26 Chain Reel for Tillage Implement and Method US12563913 2009-09-21 US20100006309A1 2010-01-14 Thomas W. Ankenman
In lieu of rigid bars, a tillage reel utilizes a number of elongated flexible elements such as lengths of link chain that are spaced circumferentially around the reel and extend axially thereof. The flexible elements bow outwardly by centrifugal force as the reel rolls along the ground during tillage operations to impact and fracture clods encountered at the lower front extremity of the reel. When the reel is used in connection with strip till operations, the flexible elements bow upwardly and inwardly along the lower periphery of the reel as they engage and conform to the transverse cross-section of the strip till berm, thereby avoiding destruction of the berm notwithstanding the clod-pulverizing action provided by the flexible elements.

A tillage apparatus including a frame having tillers, land wheels supporting the frame, and press wheels on the frame is disclosed. In one form, the frame has a forward section and a rearward section supporting the press wheels. The rearward section can pivot radially with respect to the direction of movement of the forward section. In another form, the frame includes a linkage assembly connected to the rearward section. An inner wheel support gang having press wheels is attached to a pivoting mounting bracket of the linkage assembly such that the inner wheel support gang can pivot vertically. In another form, the apparatus includes a weight transfer device including a linkage connecting a boom and the forward section. A biasing means pivotally connected to the forward section and to the linkage distributes weight from the boom to the forward section to the rearward section and to the press wheels.

31 Roller attachment for road grader US62615 1998-04-20 US6068065A 2000-05-30 Wayne Mehew; Carolyn Mehew
An attachment assembly is provided for quickly and conveniently mounting a roller onto and immediately ahead of an elongate blade of a road grader or other vehicle which manipulates and moves the blade over a ground surface. The portable roller has an elongate body with a continuous cylindrical outer surface for contacting and working the ground surface, and an axle element about which the roller rotates and which protrudes from each opposed end of the roller body. The attachment assembly is removably receivable on the blade and rotatably holds the roller by the protruding axle element. The location and orientation of the roller relative to the ground surface is controlled by manipulating the blade. The assembly provides an alternative to traditional road grading, namely by allowing a road grader to carry a roller to simultaneously level and compact a ground surface, such as a gravel road.
32 Device for crushing stubble US454550 1995-05-30 US5725057A 1998-03-10 Kenneth Noel Taylor
A device for crushing stubble comprising a rotatable crushing element supported by a frame. The frame is coupled by a pivotable connection to a drive mechanism which moves the device in a predefined direction across the stubble. The pivotable connection allows the crushing element to pivot about an axis substantially parallel to the predefined direction of motion so that substantial contact is maintained with the ground, thereby maximizing the extent of crushing. Limited vertical movement of the crushing element is permitted by a suspension mechanism.
33 Apparatus for inserting netting into a ground surface and method for accomplishing same US362502 1995-02-13 US5525012A 1996-06-11 Gabriel Casimaty; Geoffrey R. Osborne
An apparatus and method for inserting netting into a ground surface is provided. The apparatus includes a frame adapted to be connected to a prime mover and having a roller transverse to the direction of normal movement of the frame. The roller has spaced annular extensions thereabout, the roller limiting the depth of entry into the ground of the extensions to the radius of the annulus formed by the extensions. The apparatus further includes a vibrator associated with the roller causing the roller to vibrate. The extensions able to effectively fluidize the ground surface so that the netting fed to the underside of the roller can be located in or under the ground surface by pressure from the extensions while the ground is fluidized. The apparatus may be used with a prime mover by mounting the apparatus on a rear portion thereof and by including a material delivery device located on the prime mover.

The apparatus includes a substantially rectangular frame having rows of rake tines extending across a front end, a rear end, and medial portion for grating a ground surface. Weighted rollers are positioned between the rows and a handle is pivotally connected to the frame to facilitate an operation of the rake by a standing user. The apparatus is particularly suited for grating and leveling sand such as that found on a golf course.
35 Seed bed packer implement US717032 1991-06-18 US5181573A 1993-01-26 Peter D. Almen
A drawbar packer having an adjustable bias assembly which transfers implement weight between the wheels and the coil packers. Tension on extension springs is adjustable so that sufficient weight is transferred from the wheels to the coil packers such that the wheels pack soil less than the coil packers. In this way, the implement packs soil uniformly in preparation of the seed bed.
36 Soil cultivating implements US296815 1981-08-27 US4412588A 1983-11-01 Ary van der Lely; Cornelis J. G. Bom
A soil cultivating implement comprising soil working members having tines, the members being arranged in a row that extends transverse to the direction of travel. A ground roller is freely rotatable and positioned to the rear of the row of soil working members. In order for the roller to support the implement on the ground and regulate the maximum depth of penetration of the soil working members into the ground, the roller has crowns or assemblies of projections which comprise substantially radial portions and outer end portions which are bent over laterally in opposite directions by significant angles and also rearwardly with respect to the direction of normal roller rotation. In addition, they are widened towards the end in the direction of their rotational movement. Scraping members are positioned between the successive assemblies or crowns of projections and the roller may have a central tubular shaft or carrier of a different diameter.
