271 PORTABLE SUN AND WEATHER SHELTER EP09763381.2 2009-06-08 EP2296505A2 2011-03-23 Elder, James C.
A portable sun and weather shelter is provided. The shelter comprises an umbrella foldable between open and closed positions. The umbrella has a center post, a canopy, and a frame to fold the canopy up and down. A pair of wings are attached to the perimeter edge of the canopy and can be extended outwardly beyond the canopy so as to increase the coverage area of the shelter so as to protect two or more people from the sun and rain.
272 RAIN SHIELDING DEVICE FOR USE WITH AN AUTOMOBILE EP08871741.8 2008-12-25 EP2223825A1 2010-09-01 Lee Chih Chung

A rain shielding device for use with an automobile includes an umbrella holder, an umbrella cloth, and a power accumulator. The umbrella holder includes a first edge column mounted on a vehicle door, a second edge column mounted on a vehicle body, a plurality of main umbrella sticks between the first edge column and the second edge column, and two interlock members. The umbrella cloth is covered on the umbrella holder. The power accumulator includes a movable member, a plurality of auxiliary umbrella sticks, and an energy-storing member. The interlock members move the movable member when the vehicle door opens, and then the movable member interacts with the auxiliary umbrella sticks to push the main umbrella sticks and umbrella cloth unfolding. The energy-storing member stores energy when the umbrella cloth unfolds and releases energy when the vehicle door is closed; thus provides an auxiliary force when the umbrella cloth folds/unfolds.

274 Accessory attachment device EP08102918.3 2008-03-26 EP2105059A1 2009-09-30 Plested, Nigel Jason; Shaw, Richard Lee

An accessory attachment device (10) comprising a first clamp collar part (12), a second clamp collar part (14), a secondary locking mechanism (16), and an accessory engaging arm (18). The clamp collar parts (12,14) together define a clamp collar, adapted for location around an elongate structure onto which an accessory is to be attached. Engagement seats (24,26) are provided on the clamp collar parts (12,14). The engagement seat (26) on the second clamp collar part (14) is provided on a saddle member (28), mounted on a piston (30), which projects outwardly from the second clamp collar part (14). The saddle member (28), and thus the engagement seat (26), is rectilinearly movable away from/towards the clamp collar part (14). The secondary locking mechanism (16) mates around approximately one half of each of the clamp collar parts (12,14), across the join between them, when they are in the closed condition. The accessory engaging arm (18) is rotatably mounted on a clip (16).

275 PROTECTIVE UMBRELLA FOR STROLLER EP07872646.0 2007-01-19 EP2101605A2 2009-09-23 Carter, Philip R.; Carter, Jaime N.
The invention provides an umbrella for attachment to a stroller that is large enough to protect the caregiver wheeling the stroller, carriage, or wheelchair from rain, wind and precipitation. The umbrella is wind proof, and attaches to the stroller by clamping its central shaft to the stroller. A counterweight is attached to the handle end of the central shaft. The umbrella has a double layered canopy that allows wind to pass through without inverting the umbrella, and may have a telescoping shaft to permit it to be stored compactly.

277 CANOPY FOR A STATIONARY COVERING DEVICE HAVING AN ASYMMETICAL SHAPE EP04708985.9 2004-02-06 EP1715773A1 2006-11-02 LENAHAN, David, G.
A canopy for a stationary covering device in accordance with the present invention comprises a cover that has a vertex point. The vertex point can be characterized by a fixed uppermost point or tip, at the highest culminating point of the canopy from which the cover projects. According to the invention, the cover includes unequal extensions from the vertex point. As such, the vertex point comprises an asymmetrically positioned vertex point. More specifically, the canopy of the invention is rotatable around a fixed longitudinal axis that is elevated from the ground. In this way, the canopy provides an adjustable coverage zone for a pre-determined stationary area beneath it when it is either rotated or tilted, and located at a suitable elevated level relative to the ground, from a first canopy position to a second canopy position.

279 UMBRELLA ATTACHMENT EP03727653.2 2003-05-12 EP1507693A1 2005-02-23 KALMS, Debra Caroline
An attachment is described for a conveyance to enable an umbrella to be secured to the conveyance. The attachment comprises a cross-bar (12), clamps (18) on the cross-bar (12) for securing the cross-bar (12) to two spaced points on the frame of the conveyance, and at least one location (20, 30) along the cross-bar (12) between the two clamps (18) for enabling the shaft of an umbrella to be coupled to the cross-bar. The cross-bar (12) is shaped at the or each location (20, 30) to engage with the shaft of the umbrella in a form-locking manner to prevent the umbrella from rotating about the longitudinal axis of the cross-bar (12).
