An apparatus for film transfer includes at least one printing press and at least one transfer film supply roller, a transfer film guiding device for guiding the transfer film web from the transfer film supply roller to a transfer nip. In order to ensure a variable film transfer in different printing units of the printing press, up to now the transfer film supply roller is moved with a film module into the region of the desired printing unit. In order to make a variable film transfer possible without complicated moving, the guiding device has web guiding elements at least in the region of the at least one printing press and the web guiding elements are enabled to selectively guide the transfer film web to different positions on the at least one printing press, such as to possible potential transfer nips. |

A film transfer apparatus includes an application unit, a transfer unit downstream of the application unit, and at least one third unit for further processing a printing material with a transfer layer applied. In the prior art, if contact pressure is exerted on coated printing material again in a following nip, the adhesive layer under the transfer layer can be pressed out. A blanket can then be contaminated with adhesive, ink itself can be contaminated and parts of the transfer layer can be detached from the coated sheet. In order to avoid pressing out the adhesive, measured values in the transfer unit are compared with corresponding values in the third unit. At least one controlled variable in the units can then be readjusted on the basis of a difference, to at least reduce the quantity of adhesive squeezed out. A transfer method and a covering surface are also provided. |

The aim of the invention is to improve the supply of transfer foil in a coating module in which the image-forming layers of a transfer foil are transferred to a printing material. To achieve this, a partial pressing surface is located in the coating module for transferring the layers of the transfer foil. This permits targeted control of the foil feed. The transfer foil can be fed past a pressure cylinder in an approximately tangential manner and with a limited width. |

A printing system transfer unit includes features which permit it to be coupled to the output sections of a variety of commercially available printing and copying machine. The system transfers thin foils onto printed indicia. The transfer unit has its own self-contained drive mechanism that may be operator adjusted to perform at the proper speed to permit the throughput of the transfer unit to match that of the printer and to minimize paper and foil jams and creases. A sensitive paper sensor is provided for initiating the transfer cycle. The transfer cycle includes the interposition of a transfer sheet and a printer output sheet between a heated roller and a pressure roller to effect transfer. The pressure roller, the transfer sheet and the heater roller are automatically separated from each other and remain in their inactive position, prepared to move into the transfer-cycle position in response to an output signal from the paper sensor. |

There is described a sheet-fed stamping press (10*) comprising a foil application unit (2*) designed to allow transfer or lamination of foil material onto successive sheets (S), which foil material is fed to the foil application unit (2*) in the form of a foil carrier (FC) supplied by means of a foil feeding system (3). The foil application unit (2*) comprises a stamping cylinder (21) at least one circumferential stamping section (210) provided on a circumference of the stamping cylinder (21) and comprising successive stamping segments (211 *; 211 **) distributed one after the other about the circumference of the stamping cylinder (21), the stamping cylinder (21) also acting as sheet-transporting cylinder and comprising multiple sheet holding units (21a) distributed about the circumference of the stamping cylinder (21) and designed to hold successive sheets (S) against the circumference of the stamping cylinder (21). The foil application unit (2*) further comprises a plurality of counter-pressure units (25) distributed about a portion of the circumference of the stamping cylinder (21) and designed to press the successive sheets (S) and the foil carrier (FC) against an outer surface of the stamping segments (211 *; 211 **), the foil carrier (FC) being supplied by the foil feeding system (3) between the sheets (S) and the stamping segments (211 *; 211 **). Each counter-pressure unit (25) is designed as a cylinder unit (250, 255) provided with at least one circumferential pressing element (255) positioned to cooperate with the circumferential stamping section (210) of the stamping cylinder |
