143 | Protector for leg | JP4121188 | 1988-02-24 | JPH01214380A | 1989-08-28 | KATO KOJI |
PURPOSE: To obtain a protector for a leg protecting a wider part of a knee without preventing movement of a knee joint by connecting an upper edge of a central part of a protector with an upper part of a protector having an edge to be overlapped without a gap and a lower edge of a central part with a lower part of a protector. CONSTITUTION: A central part of a protector 1 is formed with a height (h) to cover a central part of a knee, and the upper edge 1a and the lower edge 1b of it are connected with an upper protector 2 and a lower protector 3 respectively. The central part of a protector 1 is formed to have a double-wall constitution, and an upper part of the inner wall 4 is given a stepped part 4a curved inward to the outer wall 5, in which a lower edge 2a of the upper protector 2 is slipped. In wearing the protector, a knee is pushed against the inner wall 4 leaving a gap between a knee and the lower edge 2a, which enable the upper protector 2 to move up and down freely. The lower edge 3b of the lower protector is connected with the central part of the protector 1 by a pin 8. The central part of the protector 1 protects a central part of a knee while the upper and the lower parts of the protector (2, 3) protect an upper and lower parts of a knee joint part, without preventing movement of a knee joint by altering the shape responding to a bending and extending movement of a knee. Apparatus and associated methods relate to a dorsal wear-pad having an external, low-friction, high-wear-resistance surface, the dorsal wear-pad configured to be releasably coupled to a D-ring connection region of a fall-protection safety harness. In various embodiments, the dorsal wear-pad may project out and away from a wearer so as to prevent the D-ring from contacting a wall surface. For example, the dorsal wear-pad may have a D-ring aperture through which the D-ring may project. In some embodiments, the dorsal wear-pad may have a back shield to prevent a snap-hook connected to the D-ring from contacting a wearer's back. An exemplary embodiment may have two prominences, one on either side of the D-ring. Some exemplary dorsal wear-pads may advantageously protect both a wearer and the wearer's harness during sliding or leaning engagements with vertical surfaces.
147 | CUSHIONING ELEMENT FOR APPAREL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE CUSHIONING ELEMENT | EP17171471.0 | 2012-02-24 | EP3235394A1 | 2017-10-25 | Turner, David |
A method for manufacturing a cushioning element (200) may include utilizing a die with a plurality of die elements positioned in a particular arrangement. A polymer material, which may be a polymer foam material, is located between the die and an extractor. The polymer material is compressed between the die and the extractor, and the die elements cut the polymer material to form a plurality of pad components (230), which are arranged like the die elements. The die and the extractor are separated, and the pad components are secured to the extractor in the arrangement of the die elements. Additionally, the pad components are bonded to at least one material layer (210, 220) such that the pad components remain in the arrangement of the die elements. |

A flame resistant protective head shield includes a hollow body having a neck receptacle to facilitate the body being positioned around a neck of a wearer. The body has an exterior surface and an interior surface. The interior surface defines an interior cavity. An opening is provided in the exterior surface in communication with the interior cavity. A flexible flame resistant substrate is provided having a secured end and a free end. The secured end is secured to the body. The substrate is movable between a stored position within interior cavity and a deployed position in which the free end of the substrate extends through the opening and upwardly to cover a head of the wearer. A pressurized gas powered actuator is provided to move the substrate in a fraction of a second from the stored position to the deployed position. A sensor is provided for detecting a flash fire coupled to the actuator. Deployment of the substrate by the actuator is triggered by the sensor sensing a flash fire.

The present invention relates to a crotch liner for cycling tights and shorts of the type comprising a first portion (2) designed to protect the cyclist's perineal and ischial area and a second portion (3), positioned in front of the first portion, which is designed to protect the user's genital area, wherein the said first portion (2) is, in turn, subdivided into a plurality of sectors which comprise a pair of first pads (20), positioned at the point of contact between the buttocks and the saddle, and a second pad (21 ) with a Y-shaped configuration, which is positioned at the point of contact between the rear portion of the scrotum and the saddle and forks out around the external lateral ends of each of the first pads (20). Furthermore, the said second portion (3), positioned in front of the first portion and designed to protect the cyclist's genital area, is a concave supporter wherein the particular concave shape thereof allows the genitals to assume a slightly raised position, cupped within the said seat and detached from the thighs and the saddle. The first and the second portions are covered with a lower layer and an upper layer of foam, which is, in turn, covered with fabric and all the components are joined together and assembled by heat-moulding by means of the interposition of a glue.
