The present disclosure is concerned with forming and non-forming webs with improved puncture resistance suitable for use in semi-automatic horizontal form fill and seal (HFFS) packaging machines and a process for packaging hard food items with sharp angular surfaces using such webs in such machines. The webs have a double wall partially laminated structure. The structure is conveniently formed by adhesively laminating two component films in a face to face configuration using a pattern of adhesive which leaves a substantial portion of the two facing surfaces unlaminated. The lamination just needs to be sufficient that the two component films will hot form together when they are vacuum drawn into a die to form a cavity for packaging the food items. The webs comprise at least a first thermoplastic component film having substantial stored shrink forces and a second thermoplastic component film having no substantial stored shrink forces.

In some embodiments, the fastening laminate includes slits that form separate, abutting portions of the backing on the carrier. An absorbent article containing the hook strip and a method of making the hook strip are also disclosed.

The film is particularly suitable for sealing containers made from polylactic acid (PLA). The multilayer film includes: a) a substrate that includes a polymeric base layer; and b) on the substrate, a heatseal layer containing a PLA homopolymer or copolymer. The heatseal layer further includes dispersed therein an adhesion promoter, or alternatively the substrate further includes the adhesion promoter in a layer on a surface of the polymeric base layer between and adjacent the base layer and the heatseal layer. An antifog agent may also be included in the heatseal layer or on the surface of the heatseal layer opposite the substrate.

A method of making a structured surface is disclosed. The method includes providing a thermoplastic backing with multiple rows of upstanding elements. For at least some of the multiple rows, an implement is passed between two adjacent rows, wherein the implement contacts the overhanging portion of at least some of the distal caps in the two adjacent rows such that at least part of the overhanging portion is turned in a second direction, different from the first direction. A structured surface that can be prepared by the method is also provided along with a fastening laminate that includes a carrier and the structured surface and an absorbent article that includes the fastening laminate. A tool useful for carrying out the method is also provided.

A layer of double-sided adhesive material is coated on each side of the carrier member, such that one side of the layer of double-sided adhesive material is able to bond to an end face of one section of insulation tubing, and the other side of the layer of double-sided adhesive material is able to bond to an end face of the second section of insulation tubing. In some embodiments, the layer of double-sided adhesive includes a scrim that acts as a reinforcing structure to keep the layer of double-sided adhesive material intact as a single body during and after application between two adjacent sections of insulation tubing.
