84 HANDLE AND TOP HANDLE REINFORCEMENT FOR A PAPERBOARD CARTON PCT/US2004033760 2004-10-12 WO2005042369A3 2005-06-16 SCHUSTER RICHARD L
A fully enclosed carton for carrying heavy loads with a reinforcement insert (58a, 58b) for the handle apertures (50a, 50b) located in the top end flaps (38, 40) of the carton. The paperboard reinforcing insert may be extended as a bridge across the top panel (14) of the carton to prevent tearing of the handle apertures in the top end flaps and also tearing in the top panel (14) of the carton when carrying a heavy load. The carton may have one or more dispensers (70a, 70b) in the top panel which may extend into an adjoining side panel (12, 18). Multiple tear lines may be formed for the dispenser flap in the insert that extends across the top panel to permit easy access to the containers, such as bottles, in the carton. The paperboard reinforcing insert may have a larger aperture (60a, 60b) than the handle aperture in each top end flap to adjust for any imprecision in the alignment of the paperboard insert in forming the carton sleeve from the paperboard blank. When the paperboard insert extends across the top panel and one or more dispensers are formed in the top panel, multiple tear lines may be used to form the flaps in the insert to compensate for any imprecision in the insertion of the insert that extends across the top panel into the carton sleeve when it is being formed.
85 CONTAINER AND METHOD FOR MAKING THE SAME PCT/GB2012051662 2012-07-12 WO2013008025A3 2013-05-16 SLACK HENRY WILLIAM
A method of making a container (2, 30) having a separable inner lining (6) and outer shell (4) comprises the steps of: forming an outer shell; pre-forming a flexible lining, at least a part of the lining conforming to a complete internal shape of the shell; inserting the preformed lining into the shell so that a first part of the lining is within the shell and a second part of the lining protrudes from the opening of the shell; adhering the first part to an internal surface (8) of the shell; conforming the second part to an external surface of the shell; and attaching to the lining around said rim a sealing layer covering the opening, and the adhesion between the lining and the internal surface of the shell being such that the lining is peelable from the shell while remaining intact.

A package for holding a product. The package can comprise a carton comprising a plurality of panels at least partially enclosing an interior of the carton. A liner may optionally be at least partially positioned in the interior of the carton and can comprise an inner dispensing feature. A liner patch can overlap the inner dispensing feature and can be mounted on the liner for facilitating opening of the inner dispensing feature of the liner.
87 CONTAINER AND METHOD FOR MAKING THE SAME PCT/GB2012051661 2012-07-12 WO2013008024A3 2013-04-25 SLACK HENRY WILLIAM
Container (2, 30) having a separable inner lining (6) and outer shell (4), the lining being peelably adhered to the shell. A method of making the container comprises the steps of: forming the shell from a paperboard or plastics material; pre-forming a flexible lining from a thin sheet of barrier material, at least a part of the lining conforming to a complete internal shape of the shell; inserting the lining into the shell; and adhering the lining to an internal surface (8) of the shell using an adhesive, wherein, as the lining is inserted into the shell the adhesive is in a non-activated state and after the lining has been inserted into the shell the adhesive is activated to cause the adhesive to adhere to the shell, the adhesion being such that the lining can subsequently be completely peeled away from the shell.

This invention relates to a method of making a container having a separable inner lining and outer shell, the inner layer being adhered to the outer layer such that after use, the inner layer may be peeled away from the outer layer. A method of making a container having a separable inner lining and outer shell comprises the steps of forming an outer shell of the container, the outer shell having a base, a sidewall and a rim surrounding an opening of the shell, the shell being made from a paperboard or plastics material; pre-forming a flexible lining from a thin sheet of barrier material, at least a part of the lining conforming to a complete internal shape of the shell;inserting the pre-formed lining into the shell so that a first part of the lining is within the shell and a second part of the lining protrudes from the opening of the shell;adhering the first part of the lining to an internal surface of the shell;conforming the second part of the lining to an external surface of the shell; and attaching a sealing layer to the lining around said rim so that the sealing layer covers the opening, the sealing layer being made from a flexible sheet of barrier material, wherein the sealing layer is peelable from the lining such that the lining remains intact, and wherein the adhesion between the lining and the internal surface of the shell is such that the lining is peelable from the shell, so that the lining remains intact and no lining remains on the shell, to fully separate the inner lining and outer shell of the container.
