1 Pallet load unloader and feeder US67682 1993-05-26 US5489185A 1996-02-06 Donald G. Reichert
A pallet unloading apparatus for removing stacks from a pallet has a conveyor for conveying a pallet in front of a pusher mechanism and a stop member then stops the pallet. The pusher mechanism is activated to push the stacks one at a time off of the pallet. When a first set of stacks has been removed from the pallet the pusher mechanism is then retracted and the apparatus moves the pallet forward to where a second set of stacks is in front of the pusher mechanism and the pallet is then stopped by a second stop member. When the pallet is empty, the second stop member retracts and the empty pallet is passed beyond the pusher mechanism while a loaded pallet moves into position.
2 Rotary placer US48853 1993-04-19 US5456570A 1995-10-10 Ellis W. Davis, Jr.; Scott C. Erickson
A rotary placer for picking, transferring and placing a carton from a stack of cartons or sleeves in a magazine to an assembly position. The rotary placer includes a frame driven for rotation about a first axis and supporting an arm having an inner end and an outer end. The outer end of the arm has vacuum cups for engaging and releasably retaining a carton for movement from the pick position to the place position. The arm is reciprocated from an extended position to a retracted position. The vacuum cups engage a carton when the arm is in the extended position and the arm retracts to remove the carton from the magazine and carry it toward the place position. The arm again is extended as it reaches the place position. A cam guide controls the movement of the vacuum cups so they move linearly away from a carton in the magazine.
3 Apparatus for spotting labels onto a surface having a transparent conveyor means US234268 1994-04-28 US5451795A 1995-09-19 Robert J. Carbrey; Halvard H. Solberg; John DiValerio
A system for registering boxes carried on one conveyor line with wraps carried on another conveyor line, in which the boxes and wraps are viewed by electronic cameras that provide respective digitized images of the boxes and wraps, and a computer determines from those images sufficient information to effect such registration by a mechanical arm that spots the boxes on the wraps regardless of their original orientation, responsively to commands from the computer. A vacuum plenum is disposed beneath the wrap conveyor for maintaining a negative pressure that releasably retains the wraps on a surface of the wrap conveyor. The wrap conveyor comprises a flexible, pneumatically porous, light-transmissive conveyor belt for moving the wraps for viewing by a camera against the upper surface of the belt, the belt being supported over the vacuum plenum on an apertured, light-transmissive frame. A diffuse light source is also provided for lighting the opposite surface of the belt so as increase the optical contrast between the wraps and the upper surface of the belt.
4 Device for assembling cuttings more particularly for the produciton of packing boxes US159149 1988-02-23 US4913691A 1990-04-03 Francois Chaygneaud-Dupuy
This invention relates to a device for the assembling of cuttings, more particularly for the production of packing boxes, of the type including a plurality of work places arranged along a main vacuum conveyor, the work places consisting mainly of a first margin stop system (8) with at least one stack loader (66) and one conveyor (9) intended to position a first cutting on said main conveyor, at least one gumming machine (10) designed to apply a film of glue on at least a portion of the first cutting and at least a second margin stop system (11) with a stack loader and a conveyor intended to position a second cutting on the first cutting. The main conveyor according to this invention is a linear horizontal type with at least one notched belt (2), guided in a slide (3) whose depth is slightly less than the thickness of the notched belt (2).
5 Method for producing containers US108317 1979-12-31 US4318703A 1982-03-09 Frank P. Richards; Raymond C. Taylor
A method and apparatus are provided whereby a generally tubular container is formed on a mandrel with an end member being sealed to the container sidewall to form an open-topped container. The open-topped container is subsequently conveyed through one or more finishing stations for appropriate finishing of the container's open end in order to ready the container for filling and acceptance of a closure. As the open ended container is conveyed incrementally to and received at one or more finishing stations, the bottom of the container is gripped while appropriate modifications are made to the top burner.
6 Process and apparatus for spotting labels US943741 1997-10-03 US5838573A 1998-11-17 Charles F. H. Crathern; John DiValerio
A system for registering containers carried on one conveyor belt with wraps carried on another conveyor belt, in which each container is viewed by an electronic camera that provides a digitized image of the container. Printed material on the face of each wrap, being carried face down on its conveyor, is viewed by another electronic camera that provides a digitized image of the printed material. The wrap conveyor comprises a flexible, light-transmissive conveyor belt supported on a light-transmissive frame. A light source is provided for lighting the wrap through the belt. In one embodiment where the wrap is light-transmissive, the printed material is viewed through the wrap itself. In another embodiment where the wrap is light-opaque, the printed material is viewed through the conveyor belt. Digitized information of standards of at least the location and details of the printed material and of the container are prestored in a computer. The latter compares the digitized images with the standards to generate commands that control a mechanical arm that correctly spots the containers on the wraps regardless of their original orientation and position.
7 Method for returning a movable part to the original point US600082 1984-04-13 US4553079A 1985-11-12 Makoto Igarashi; Naoki Kumagami; Kiichiro Okano
A method of returning a movable top guide to the original point as defined by a frame of a machine body. The method comprises the steps of first moving in one direction the top guide to the frame at a high speed, moving the opposite direction the top guide away from the frame at an intermediate speed for a prescribed length of time after an overrun switch set at a point a little beyond the original point is rendered non-conductive, moving in one direction the top guide to the frame at a low speed and stopping the movement of the top guide when the original point switch provided at the original point is rendered nonconductive.
