A potato seed platner in which seeds are loaded into cups on an endless conveyor from a hopper of a seed receptacle. The conveyor is driven on upper and lower sprockets and arranged on the receptacle with the cups in two parallel rows in staggered constant relationship and moving upwardly through the hopper for seed loading. The cups pass around the upper sprocket, invert and enter a contoured tube thereat and descend in an attached dicharge tube to a furrow. The cup bottoms are inclined transversely and support the seeds in their descent against the wall of the discharge tube. At the bottom the seeds are discharged from the planter and guided by the transversely inclined cup bottoms are deposited one by one alternately from one row and then the other in the furrow with precision heretofore unachieved. The planter further comprises a wheeled frame and one or more, attached, laterally extending, flexible frames upon which the receptacle is supported. The receptacle is size adjustable and the planter is adaptable to plant in several rows simultaneously. |

A garlic upright-positioning and planting device has a simple structure by which a garlic clove can be planted while the garlic clove is kept at its upright posture with its blunt root portion directed toward the ground. There is provided a garlic planting device for planting garlic cloves while maintaining an upright state, which comprises at least one guiding hopper for guiding a garlic clove with a root portion directed in a downward direction, and a planter for planting the garlic clove supplied from each of the guiding hoppers. |

The present invention relates to a garlic planting device for planting garlic cloves while maintaining an upright state thereof at the time of planting the garlic cloves. The garlic planting device of the present invention comprises at least one guiding hopper for guiding a garlic clove with a root portion thereof directed in a downward direction, and a planting means for planting the garlic clove supplied from each of the guiding hoppers. The planting means further comprises a pair of round planting plates rotatably supported at both ends of a fixed shaft; a driving sprocket fixedly engaged on an external surface of one of the planting plates for transmitting driving force from an external power source to the planting plates; a plurality of driven shafts disposed at a equiangular interval between the pair of the planting plates; a plurality of planting hoppers fixed respectively to the plurality of the driven shafts for planting the garlic clove supplied from the guiding hoppers; a sector cam fixed to one side of the fixed shaft for causing the planting hoppers to be opened and closed; and a reverse drive mechanism which is disposed in at least one of the pair of the planting plates and causes the driven shafts to be rotated in a direction opposite to a direction the planting plates rotate such that lower portions of the planting hoppers are always directed toward the ground even if the planting plates rotate. |

The planter comprises planting units consisting of two support wheels longitudinally and transversely offset with respect to each other, so that one of the wheels is located aside, and displaced to the rear, of the other wheel, with regard to the direction of movement of the planter. The wheels are connected to each other by horizontal links which are hingedly secured to the wheel rims so, that the distance between the centers of the hinges along the rim equals one eighth of the length of the wheel rim circumference. The horizontal links are made with a two-step deflection, one step of which forms with the rim of the front support wheel a gap for the passage of the adjacent horizontal link, while the other step forms with the planting devices a gap for the passage of the root knockouts, as two adjacent horizontal links are located in one horizontal plane.
