Die Universalschneidvorrichtung weist ein über einen Elektromotor, der mit einem Getriebe zusammenwirkt, elektrisch antreibbares, rotierendes Schneidmesser in Form einer Schneidscheibe (2) auf, die innerhalb des vorderen Bereiches eines mehrteiligen Gehäuses (3) in einem Messerträger (3c) gelagert ist, wobei Teile der Schneidscheibe (2) teilweise aus dem Messerträger (3) herausragen. Im Messerträger sind Aufnahmeöffnungen (4) vorgesehen, in welche eine Schneid- und Führungsklinge (5) eingesetzt werden kann, in deren Verlängerung eine Anlegekante (9) am Gehäuse ausgebildet ist. Die rotierende Schneidscheibe (2) weist auf ihrer Peripherie eine Vielzahl von sekantiellen Schneiden (2a) auf. Die erfindungsgemäße Universalschneidvorrichtung hat den Vorteil, daß auch relativ dicke flächige Materialien, wie Bodenbeläge, und auch Rauhfasertapeten, also flächige Materialien mit Einschlüssen, relativ sauber und glatt geschnitten werden können.
