An apparatus for providing motion therapy to a physically-challenged child includes an adjustable seat attached to the base of an amusement-type ride by a spring mechanism and having a back portion to provide lower back support to the child. An adjustable torso support mechanism is mounted on the amusement-type ride and provides lateral support to the child while seated on the ride. The torso support includes rotatable support arms to which are fastened adjustable hand brackets and hand pads, all mounted on vertically-positioned spine rods. An adjustable headrest support is mounted on the carriage device to provide head and neck support to the child. An adjustable shoulder strap secures the child in a stable position during operation. A lap belt is also provided to securely position the child inside the torso support mechanism. |

An omni-directional rocking apparatus includes a rocking base assembly and seating assembly. The rocking base assembly comprises at least two arched transverse members with distally disposed contoured stops adapted to limit the range of rocking motion in any direction. In one preferred embodiment, the rocking apparatus is constructed as a tip-resistant, omni-directional riding toy wherein the seating assembly comprises a simulated animal body, vehicle or other conveyance device. |

An apparatus which provides both amusement and exercise takes the form of a simulated animal or other body with pedals attached. A rider sitting on the body drives the pedals. As the pedals are driven, gearing within the body imparts a reciprocating upward and forward movement of the body, as if the body, particularly when that of an animal, were running or walking. The gearing arrangement also reduces the amount of effort a rider must expend to move the simulated animal body weight to overcome the effect of the rider's own weight. With the gearing within the body, little chance of injury to others exists. The gearing also imparts a more realistic simulation of running movement of an animal. |

A rocking toy which cannot be overturned by rocking provides exercise and training in coordination as well as amusement. The legs of the body portion are mounted on two spaced rocker assemblies interconnected through the body portion to transmit rocking movement from one assembly to the other. Each assembly comprises cross members limiting its rocking movement and preventing it from overturning by engaging against the front portion and rear portion of the respective leg. The connection of the body portion to the front rocker assembly is off center which causes automatic rocking in one direction. Rocking in the other direction is done by the rider pressing down on foot rests carried by the front rocker assembly.
