3 Aquatic exercise apparatus and method therefor US10816258 2004-04-01 US20050227821A1 2005-10-13 Richmond Powell; Mark Beltz
An aquatic exercise apparatus and method therefor comprised of two flotation devices connected by a plurality of tube members that can be easily and inexpensively adjusted by length and angle, allowing a person to swim by cranking two flotation devices while kicking his or her feet. Preferably, PVC tubes and PVC elbows are used so that the overall length of the aquatic exercise device and the length between a first handle and a second handle can be easily and inexpensively adjusted by substituting PVC tubes of different lengths and PVC elbows of different angles. In this way, swimmers of different sizes can use the same aquatic exercise apparatus by adjusting it to their preference. Additionally, a single swimmer can adjust the aquatic swimming apparatus in order to focus on different muscle groups.
4 Swimming aid US185395 1988-04-25 US4832631A 1989-05-23 Marvin N. Gag
A manually powered pair of crank operated flat paddles used by a swimmer combines a rotary and paddling motion. One paddle is rotated to engage the water while the opposite paddle is disengaged and provides flotation only. The opposite paddle is then rotated to engage the water while the first paddle is disengaged. This apparatus combines support with propulsion to assist the beginning swimmer. The motion of the swimmer's arms using this device mimics a normal swimming stroke and aids the learning process.
5 Comprehensive airplane safety system US29227 1987-03-23 US4726550A 1988-02-23 Bao C. Chen; Shih C. Chen
An airplane with an enlarged safety door in the lower middle part of the fuselage which can be opened during mid-flight emergencies so as to let emergency exit stairs be hydraulically lowered down therefrom. The stairs have a hydraulically operated slideway on the lower end thereof. Chair assemblies which are slidable on rails and which are normally retained by a flip-up board. The chair assemblies can be moved either manually or by means of a motor driven draw cord. A user propelled water safety device comprising an inflatable chest support, two handlebars two inflatable paddlewheels and two floatation devices. A bouyant, collapsible carry-all which can be used to carry survival and safety items upon exit of the plane and which has holes in the bottom thereof for easy draining. An air-flow system comprising an air exhaust shield, a plurality of fans, air vents distributed at even intervals along the ceiling of the plane. An air supply system comprising pipes that run between the walls of the airplane to a plurality of outlets on the end sections of the pipe.

Swimming and exercising apparatus is disclosed comprising a body supporting section having wheels with cog-like driving members thereon secured to the body supporting section at either end through wheel supporting frames. The wheels are positioned on either end in pairs, each of the wheels being individually driven by pedals. A pair of pedals are positioned at one end of the body supporting section and a pair of pedals are positioned at the opposite end of the body supporting section, each of the pedals drivingly engaging a wheel. The wheels are mounted on crossbars extending across the frame sections, each crossbar lying in the horizontal plane parallel to the body supporting section, one of the horizontal planes extending a greater distance from the body supporting section than the other.A pair of removable braces are provided, one end of the braces being secured to the body supporting section, the other end of which may be secured to a wall. The ends of the removable braces that are secured to a wall lie in a plane parallel to a horizontal plane normal to the outer edges of the wheels.
10 Swimming paddles US3580213D 1969-10-06 US3580213A 1971-05-25 YUEN MELVILLE J G
A shaft has oppositely extending offset portions at opposite ends, each portion being connected to a corresponding flotation paddle. Straps secure the shaft rotatably to a user in water. The user, using hands or feet, rotates the shaft to move the paddles and propel himself in the water. The paddles are lighter than water and act as floats as well as assisting in propulsion.
