102 Perineometer with wireless biofeedback US11268923 2005-11-08 US07645220B2 2010-01-12 Craig A. Hoffman; Gerry M. Hoffman; Michael John England
A perineometer for home or clinical use assesses the strength of pelvic floor muscles and provides audible and visual biofeedback signals as training aids during pelvic exercises. Impedance signals proportional to vaginal contraction pressure forces are developed by a transducer sleeve that is mounted on a vaginal probe. A battery-powered RF transmitter module contained within the probe transmits wireless impedance signals to a hand-held receiver equipped with an audio-visual display monitor. The probe reacts the pelvic contraction forces and thus provides a direct tactile feedback signal that is used in combination with audible and visual feedback signals for improving the endurance and strength of pelvic floor muscles.
103 Gynecology exercise device US12217354 2008-07-02 US20100004102A1 2010-01-07 Andrea Harding-Randle
An apparatus for the strengthening and rebuilding of the muscles of the pelvic floor includes a center generally flat main resistance spring that includes a generally U-shape. The main resistance spring supplies a force which urges separation between a first end and an opposite second end of the main resistance spring. A surrounding case provides a stop mechanism to limit further separation of the first end with respect to the second end. A secondary resistance spring is attached to an interior of the main resistance spring and is used to supply an increase in overall resistance as well as to actuate an optional mechanical counter. An optional pair of auxiliary resistance bands are provided and are urged within a longitudinal channel to vary the magnitude of overall resistance. An optional handle is included to aid in transportation.

107 Pelvic floor muscles exercise device and exercise method US11376663 2006-03-16 US20070219078A1 2007-09-20 Alain Bourgault
A compact and easy to use pelvic floor muscle exercise device and a method for using the exercise device are disclosed by which to enable users to identify, exercise and strengthen their pelvic floor muscles without requiring supervision or special equipment. The exercise device includes a block of resilient cellular foam material having a spring-like memory. The exercise device is shaped (i.e., tapered) to fit comfortably between the thighs of the user. While (preferably) sitting up, the user's pelvic floor muscles are lifted as high as possible, and the thighs are then pressed together during exhalation at which time the exercise device located therebetween is compressed. During subsequent inhalation, the pelvic floor muscles are relaxed, and the user's thighs are moved away from one another, whereby the exercise device will now expand to its original shape. The exercise device is ideally subjected to a series of compression/expansion cycles between the thighs of the user as a part of a regular exercise program by which to return the pelvic floor muscles to their proper alignment in the pelvis.
108 Pelvic floor function diagnostic and therapeutic station and uses thereof US11348183 2006-02-06 US20070185417A1 2007-08-09 Ravinder Mittal; Jianmin Liu; Charles Nager
The instant invention provides a pelvic floor function diagnostic and therapeutic station, which includes a vaginal/ano-rectal plug and station. The important components of the station are a catheter holder with a pressure measuring (sleeve sensor or other alterative) to measure the constrictor function of the pelvic floor muscle, a vertical force transducer system to measure the elevator function of the pelvic floor muscle and a modular support table or a chair to hold the subject position. The diagnostic and therapeutic station thus allows for simultaneous measurement of the constrictor and elevator functions of the pelvic diaphragm. The station can also be used to treat impaired pelvic floor function via biofeedback therapy.

A training device for training the pelvic floor muscles of a human, which can be externally placed on the human body and can be connected to feedback units that produce feedback signals, such as vibrations. The training device is, at least on one side, aligned with the pelvic floor, can be compressed and can be axially deformed on its sensor side. A pressure force sensor unit of the training device can be positioned during the operation in such a manner that the ischial tuberosities of the pelvic floor can be situated on both sides on the pressure sensor unit, and a gravitational force component passing through the pelvic floor acts upon the pelvic floor training device, making a precise measurement of the exertion on the pelvic floor possible.
110 MULTI-MODE PELVIC EXERCISE PROBE US11621796 2007-01-10 US20070112284A1 2007-05-17 Craig Hoffman; Gerry Hoffman; Michael England
A perineometer exercise probe for home or clinical use assesses the strength of pelvic floor muscles and provides audible, visual and tactile biofeedback signals as training aids during pelvic exercises. The exercise probe is selectively operable in a passive reaction mode, in which audible, visual and tactile biofeedback signals proportional to pelvic muscle contractions are generated, and in an active vibrating mode in which therapeutic vibrations are applied directly to internal pelvic musculature with or without co-generation of biofeedback signals proportional to the strength of pelvic muscle contractions; and in a combination of both modes simultaneously. The probe reacts the pelvic contraction forces and thus provides passive tactile feedback signals that are experienced simultaneously with audible, visual and vibration-induced tactile biofeedback signals for improving the endurance and strength of pelvic floor muscles. Biofeedback signaling is facilitated by wireless two-way communication between the probe and a portable monitor.

112 Exerciser for the muscles of pelvic floor US10141239 2002-05-08 US07014603B2 2006-03-21 Daniel S. Stein
An exercise device for strengthening the muscles of the pelvis, particularly the collective group of muscles involved in human sexual response, which are also important for controlling the evacuation of the intestines and the bladder. This exercise device focuses on increasing the strength, tone and endurance of these muscles. The device comprises a longitudinally extending member that includes a blunt head portion and a compressible shaft portion. The first end of the shaft portion is juxtaposed with the head portion. The first end of the shaft portion has an outwardly extending retaining slope formed thereon, particularly when the device is received within a pelvic body cavity and the muscles of the pelvic floor are at rest. The retaining slope is engageable with the retaining edge of the adjacent pelvic floor muscle platform of that pelvic body cavity to facilitate intracorporal retention within the pelvic body cavity. The compressible shaft is actively functional in creating resistance to contraction of the pelvic floor muscle platform, thereby causing the work necessary for muscle development. The second end of the shaft portion has an outwardly extending slope formed thereon. When the device is inserted into a pelvic body cavity, this outwardly extending slope is engageable with the body tissue that is adjacent to the orifice into the pelvic body cavity to prevent over insertion of the member.

A method and device for training pelvic floor muscles in order to treat or prevent urinary or fecal incontinence. The device comprises a probe having a pressure sensor and a vibrator, and a microprocessor connected with the sensor and the vibrator. Initially, the probe is inserted into a person's vagina or rectum and the highest force that can be applied by the person contracting the pelvic muscles is ascertained and registered. The contraction of the pelvic floor muscles is repeated at intervals, and the force applied by pelvic floor muscles at each contraction is ascertained and compared with the registered highest value. The vibrator is activated at each contraction of the floor muscles only if the force has a predetermined relationship to the registered value, and only for a predetermined period as long as the predetermined relationship is maintained.
