129 Folding elliptical exercise machine US11801228 2007-05-09 US20080280735A1 2008-11-13 Robert G. Dickie; Steve A. Copeland
An elliptical exercise machine having a frame that is adjustable between an operational position and a folded position. The frame includes a base that remains in constant contact with a floor surface when the frame is in both the operational and folded positions. A first mast section extends upwardly and outwardly away from the base. A second mast section is pivotally connected to an upper end of the first mast section. The second mast section is pivoted into vertical alignment with the first mast section when the frame is adjusted into the operational position and is pivoted downwardly toward the base when the frame is adjusted into the folded position. First and second swing arm assemblies are pivotally mounted between the second mast section and a flywheel that is mounted on the base. Handlebars are pivotally mounted on the first and second swing arms. The handlebars are adjustable in orientation so as to reduce the overall dimensions of the elliptical exercise machine when it is to be folded. A decorative cover, which preferably resembles a wooden coffee table, is positioned over the exercise machine when in the folded position. The exercise machine therefore can be stored in plain sight. The cover is removed when the exercise machine is to be adjusted into the operational position.

139 Exercise device US10087079 2002-03-01 US06733428B2 2004-05-11 Karl A. List
An exercise device having a base in the form of an open-sided rectangular box and a rectangular cover for the open side having four wheels that are disposed in the base for storage, the cover being removable to serve as a movable platform during exercise. An elastic resistance band is trained around connectors in the base and exits and reenters through two holes in one side, forming an external run that is connectable to the movable platform by a hook on its underside, and two stub handles are stored in clips in the base and attachable to filling on the outside for use. Two optional disk assemblies are mountable on the base and the cover by pins that fit loosely in holes therein, and have freely rotatable top pieces that add rotational movements to the reciprocating movements of the base and the movable platform. Elastic connecting bands are provided for tying the disk assemblies together during rotation, for closed-chain exercise, and are removable for open-chain exercise. These bands also resist separation of the platforms when the first resistance band is not connected. Representative exercises of various kinds are diagrammed.
140 Multipurpose exercise apparatus US09877176 2001-06-11 US06634998B2 2003-10-21 Matt Siaperas
A multi-purpose exercise device is disclosed. The device is generally an elongated rectangular box with a top side, a bottom side, a right side, a left side, a front side and a back side. The box tapers from the topside to the bottom side, giving it a trapezoidal configuration. The top side includes a transverse hinge forming a first adjustable section and a second adjustable section. The first section may be rotated about the hinge and be fixed at various angles by a pivotal adjustment arm. The second section may also be rotated about the hinge and may be secured in an angular position by a seat riser. The interior under the first section holds specialty bars, a wheel, a body pad and a variety of other devices. The interior under the second section holds handles, ankle straps, kneepads, cable ties, elastic elements and the like. A plurality of color coded ring clips are present on the right side, the left side, the front side and the back side. The underside of the first section has vertical sidewalls which would nest inside the interior under the first section. These vertical sidewalls will also have color coded ring clips. A variety of elastic members are secured to a carabineer on a first side. The caribiner is attached to a trigger clip which in turn would be clipped to an appropriate ring clip. The second side of the elastic member is attached to a handle. A variety of exercises can therefore be performed.
