84 Waist twist machine capable of synchronically swinging in different directions EP08020778.0 2008-11-26 EP2191872A1 2010-06-02 Wang, Leao

A waist twist machine (10) capable of synchronically swinging in different directions employs a synchronic transmission assembly, like a diverting bevel gear set, to synchronically rotate a rotating disc (30) (the position of the user's lower body) and a handle (50) (the hand-gripping position of the user's upper body) in opposite directions so that a double twisting exercise effect of the waist and the abdominal part is achieved by rotating the user's upper or lower body at a minimum angle. Moreover, the synchronic transmission assembly synchronically brings a pendulum (60) in a to-and-fro movement that acts both as a weight to provide an exercise resistance and as a power source to create an inertia swing.

91 EXERCISE HARNESSES EP10721134.4 2010-04-20 EP2421619B1 2018-06-06 Gatherer, Donald William
An exercise harness has a band (1) that is retained partially encircling the user's head, by a chin-strap (3) and inter-connected head-straps (4). The straps (3, 4) are attached to individual spaced locations of the band (1) by press-studs (6, 7) or two-part fabric fastenings. A cord (13) extending through a pulley-block (14) is clipped at its ends (12) to rings (11) at respective ends of the band (1). Load from a weight or from reaction to head movement is applied to the pulley-block (14) via a swivel connection (15) for equalisation and balancing out of asymmetrical tensioning of the two ends of the band (1) for extension exercise of muscles of the spinal cervix. Unsafe or inappropriate loading causes break-out of one or more of the press-studs (6, 7) or other fastenings to give audible warning of it and a measure of relief.
92 A device for allowing a user to walk or run on the spot in an arbitrary direction and control method therefor EP11165490.1 2011-05-10 EP2522403B1 2018-03-14 Schmitz, Micael; Johansson, Daniel

The rollers as such are continuous circular cylindrical, and beneath them there is a driving means for frictional driving engagement with the rollers from below. According to the method a marker (26) placed on top of the user (25) is monitored by means of video cameras (24) and the speed of the roller conveyors adjusted depending on the perceived marker size and position.

95 An automatic movable ladder EP14164116.7 2014-04-09 EP2929914A1 2015-10-14 Malatesta, Massimiliano; Mazzotti, Gianluca

The SKY WALKER machine depicted in the two accompanying Figures, namely TABLE 1 - TABLE 2, is a machine for rehabilitation, relaxation and stretching of the joints, for corrective exercises and various forms of paramorphisms. It is also designed for those with spinal problems, such as scoliosis. This machine allows the user making gymnastic exercise to strengthen the upper body muscles. All exercises practiced are carried out in suspension (without contact with the ground) and are similar to the traditional "Swedish wall bars". The uniqueness and novelty of this machine is the automatic suspension of the user through electrically controlled lifting systems, controlled by a micro-computer and some safety devices.

The SKY WALKER machine can automatically recognize the height of a person with his/her arms raised using a safety bar connected to an encoder and automatically recognizes when this person begins to use it, or when it ends to use it, through a load cell system. This machine has two functions: "lift up and down", that is only lifting, and "lift and go" allowing the user to hang to the rungs by his/her hands, moving his/her hands to take the rungs that approach the user in succession.

Exercise apparatus (1) in which a person exercising exerts a force against a movable actuator (6) to which is applied an adjustable force by a load system which resists or assists the movement of the actuator and is connected to the actuator by cables (9). The load system comprises a fixed, longitudinally arranged coaxial series of coil units (15), each coil unit being independently connectible to a source of electric current. The series of coils provides an elongate passage (18), and a shuttle (19) of ferromagnetic material is mounted for relative longitudinal movement within the passage, in response to movement of the actuator. Passage of a current through a coil unit exerts a force on the shuttle when in that coil unit, and is controlled by a microprocessor (22).

100 Rowing simulator and training aid EP12172095.7 2012-06-14 EP2545965A3 2014-01-01 Smith, Christopher

An apparatus that enables one or more people to simulate on land the action of rowing on water, including the simulation of an oar blade entering into and being extracted from water that is moving relative to a boat, and including feedback on rowing performance and technique. The apparatus includes the same fundamental elements as a real rowing boat, with one or two oar handles 6 per person, a sliding seat 4, adjustable footplate 5 and rigging 7 that supports rowlocks. The inertia, momentum and drag of a real boat are simulated using a damped flywheel. The percentage of torque that is transmitted between each oar handle and this flywheel is controlled using magnetic clutches, and is based upon an analysis of the position and angle of each simulated oar blade.
