PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of determining pressure suitable for testing the propriety of a mask fitting state, and a method of determining correct mask fitting.
SOLUTION: A microcontroller includes a "mask-fitting" mode, and applies an initial fixed pressure level to a mask by a blower. The mask-fitting test pressure is "set" pressure at that time point, when an action mode is a manual mode, and the mask-fit test pressure is 95 percentile pressure of the last session, in the other hand, or base treatment pressure, for example, 10-12 cm H
2O, when the action mode is an automatic titration mode. The fixed pressure is applied for a period of time, in general, 1-3 minutes. The microcontroller determines continuously a leak amount of the mask as a numeric value "fLEAK" obtained from a flow sensor, compares the value with a threshold value, and provides a visual index indicating a degree of leakage to a patient.

Systems and methods for evaluating medication delivery from valved holding chambers (VHCs) with a facemask using a model face of a child or a model face of an infant are disclosed. Generally, the model face includes a base, an elastomer cast, an air pocket, and a mouth opening. The elastomer cast is positioned on at least a portion of a top of the base. The elastomer simulates soft tissues in a face and defiens at least a nose, a chin, and a mouth sized to simulate a nose, a chin, and a mouth of a child. The air pocket is positioned between the base and the elastomer case below at least the nose, the chin, and the mouth of the elastomer cast. The mouth opening defines a passageway through the base, the air pocket, and the mouth of the elastomer cast. |

The invention relates to a device, especially a piece of clothing (1), such as a glove, which is provided for isolating a test gas present in an isolation space (11) from a gas, generally air, present in a operating space (13). The inventive device comprises at least one inner layer (2, 2a) which faces the operating space (13) and which can be optionally arranged on the side of the body. The device also comprises an outer layer (3, 3a) which faces the isolation space (11). The inner (2, 2a) or outer layer (3, 3a) is comprised of a material which is essentially impermeable for the test gas, for example hypalon3. A first set of means is provided for pressurizing the space (12) between the inner layer (2, 2a) and the outer layer (3, 3a) with a purge gas, especially with an inert gas such as nitrogen. A second set of means is provided for the, in particular, continuous testing of the purge gas for portions of test gas and/or gas such as oxygen. The first set of means enable a pressure to build up in the space (12) which is less than the pressure inside the isolation space (11) and is optionally greater than the pressure inside a operating space (13) optionally located on the side of the body. |
