61 Robotic First Responder System and Method US13691840 2012-12-02 US20140150806A1 2014-06-05 John Hu; Yi-Je Lim
A robotic first responder system provides injured patients with first response medical care and extracts the injured patient from a dangerous or remote area. After assessing of the level of consciousness of an injured patient, the robotic unit utilizes an inflatable immobilization device for safe robotic rescue of injured patients. The robotic unit lifts and transfers an injured patient to an extraction vehicle, a secure, bullet-proof wheeled system that can be pulled by the robot to safe location. The extraction vehicle continues serving as the evacuation stretcher to a medical station. The robotic unit utilizes zero moment point control to maintain stability while lifting the patient. A robot first responder tows the extraction vehicle or the extraction vehicle self-navigates incorporating with power drive and autonomous navigation systems.

The stretcher includes a wheel assembly having an alternative use as a container for the collapsible stretcher. The invention has particular advantages in military or disaster environments in that it allows one person, a carrier, to perform an evacuation of an injured person, whereas prior art stretchers require two or more persons to effectuate an evacuation of an injured person. Additionally, the carrier person can utilize the stretcher to transport or pull an injured person while reserving independent functions of his or her hands. Accordingly, the lightweight collapsible and portable stretcher can be operated hands-free by a single carrier person.

80 Wheeled attachment for patient transport litter US10410771 2003-04-10 US06698811B1 2004-03-02 William J. Schuchman
An attachment (A) mounted on an end of a litter (L) used for transporting a person includes a frame (3) extending transversely of the litter between poles (P1, P2) at one end of the litter. A pair of collars (4) are attached to the frame and sized to fit over ends of the poles for mounting the attachment to the litter. Wheels (1, 19) carried by the frame extend beneath the litter so when the attachment is mounted in place, the litter is movable over a surface by only one attendant. A trapezoidal support (18) extends upwardly from the frame above an upper surface of the litter so when the attendant lifts the end of the litter opposite that on which the attachment is mounted, the person placed on the litter is supported in place and will not fall off the litter.
