2 Flexible circuit board connector having insulation removal mechanism US09684456 2000-10-10 US06312280B1 2001-11-06 Robin Stevenson
An improved connector establishes an electrical connection between an external conductor and a planar conductor of an insulated flexible circuit board, utilizing an automatically deployed cutting mechanism for removing insulative material overlying the flexible circuit conductor when the electrical connection is established. The connector includes an insulative housing having a slot for receiving an interconnect stub of the flexible circuit, and a compliantly mounted cutting mechanism electrically coupled to the external conductor. The cutting mechanism extends partially into the slot, and is compliantly displaced away from the slot as the interconnect stub is inserted into the slot. When the interconnect stub is partially extracted from the slot, the cutting mechanism forcibly engages the stub, removing a portion of the overlying insulative material, and electrically contacting the flexible circuit conductor to establish the electrical connection between it and the external conductor.

4 Socket assembly EP14000619.8 2014-02-21 EP2911246B1 2017-11-29 Staudenmaier, Gerd
A socket assembly comprises a socket element (14) retained within one end of a coiled spring (10), and a spigot (16) partly retained within the other end of the coiled spring, the spigot serving as a means to attach the socket assembly to a surface (20). When a plug (22) which terminates a cable (24) is coupled to the socket element of the socket assembly, tension in the cable causes the socket element to deflect (30, 32) so that the longitudinal axis (26) of the coupled plug and socket elements becomes substantially parallel to the cable, thus preventing damage to the cable. If the tension in the cable is sufficiently large, the plug disengages from the socket element, thus preventing the cable from breaking or becoming detached from the plug.
5 Method and apparatus for diagnosing and repairing faults in a series-connected lamp string US13694847 2013-01-10 US08672510B1 2014-03-18 Gerald Allen Budelman
A method and apparatus for detecting and repairing any number of faulty lamp assemblies in a substantially series-connected lamp string, typically used for holiday decoration. The apparatus comprises a pair of probes fashioned to temporarily penetrate the insulation of lamp connecting wire on either side of a number of lamps thus bridging such lamps either directly or via a current limiting means. The methods of use of such apparatus provide a minimal number of separate tests for determining the faulty lamp assemblies and/or providing a more intuitive method for special circumstances.
6 Terminal clip US3704439D 1970-10-15 US3704439A 1972-11-28 NELSON ARTHUR
A terminal clip for quick connection of an antenna lead to a receiver. A pair of jaws are mounted on a body and biased toward one another at their receiver-attachment ends by means of prestressed spring forces manufactured into the jaws in the areas in which they are attached to the body. An operating handle is attached to each jaw for opening them so that they can grip the receiver elements between them. Portions of the jaws within the body are provided with teeth whereby, when an antenna lead is threaded through the body, a screw means may be moved toward the teeth to fixedly embed the conductors thereon.

12 Connection terminal plate US501702 1990-03-30 US5011429A 1991-04-30 Hai-Yung Ku
A wiring connection terminal block having a housing for accommodating a movable block and a compression spring, is arranged within an insulator made of fire-proof synthethic polyester. Two opposite sides of the housing each has a wire hole with oblique surface, forming a sharp wedge at the top rim of each hole. The moveable block has a wire hole with oblique surfaces forming concavities into opposite surfaces of the moveable block. The oblique surfaces are positioned at the bottom rims of the wire holes on the surface of the moveable block and extend into the moveable block. A wire is inserted into the wiring holes by compressing the compressing spring to bring the wiring holes of the moveable block into alignment with the wiring holes of the housing. When the compressing spring is released an inserted wire is pushed upward and bent into the concavities on either side of the moveable block by the force of the compressing spring. Electrical connection between the housing and the inserted wire in the wire holes is created by the sharp wedges on the housing which pierce the wire cover when the wire is forced against the points.

The present invention relates to an insulation displacement contact device (IDC) having a contact slot provided with an insertion opening and wishes to provide such IDC having an improved capability of contacting conductors with a wider range of conductor diameter and/or number of strands forming the conductor. As a solution to the above problem, the contact slot (40) of the IDC device of the present invention is defined between blade surfaces (12; 22) of a first blade element (10) and a second blade element (20), wherein said first and second blade elements (10; 20) are physically separated from each other, movable relative to each other and biased against each other by spring means (30).

20 Socket assembly EP14000619.8 2014-02-21 EP2911246A1 2015-08-26 Staudenmaier, Gerd
