PURPOSE: To mount an indicator lamp to indicate actuation of a switch simply and without trouble by installing the indicator lamp in such a way as to be integrated with a circuit unit and positioned facing the indicator part of a casing cover. CONSTITUTION: A circuit unit 37 consists of a printed circuit board 38 and a mounting block 39 therefore. Various circuit elements are mounted on this circuit board 38, and an indicator lamp 40 as one of them is installed in the condition protruding long on the circuit board 38. A circuit unit 37 is mounted in a casing 1, and a lid 45 is fixed to the opening 3 of the casing. This lid 45 is equipped with a checking window 48 for the indicator lamp 40, wherein the indicator lamp 40 is located closely to the inside of the window 48 and facing thereto. Thereby no coil spring is needed when indicator lamp is to be mounted to enable simple mounting of it, and also electric shock can be prevented which is otherwise likely to occur at the time of lid removal. PURPOSE: To reduce the number of returns occurring in an overload period and extend the life of a pair of normally closed contact points provided at the end section of a metal by connecting a holding heating resistor between two conductive connecting legs constituting the metal when the therfnally- activated bimetal is provided along the heating resistor in an insulated sealing body. CONSTITUTION: Three conductive connecting legs 107, 103, 109 are inserted through the bottom section of an insulated sealing body 101, and the length of the center leg 103 is set short. A thermally-activated bimetal 102 is vertically connected to the tip of the center leg 103, a heating resistor 108 is provided in parallel with it, and its upper end is connected to the tip of the leg 107 or to the tip of the leg 103. A contact point 105 of a pair of normally closed contact points 104, 105 provided at the tip of the bimetal 102 is connected to the tip of the leg 109, and a holding heating resistor 111 having a luminous display function is newly connected between the tip of the leg 103 and the middle of the leg 109. Exothermic gas is filled in the sealing body 101. The opening/closing actions of the contact points are reduced.

A low cost, scalable backplane for black and white or color optical displays comprises a multi-membrane plastic structure on which is printed or deposited row and column drivers to form a matrix of micro electromechanical (MEM) switches. Each switch controls the state of a pixel in the optical display device. Critical to successful long-term operation, the backplane includes the controlled application of voltages to each switch so that the display functions correctly and display life is maximized. The MEM switches include a substantially non-pliable membrane and a substantially flexible membrane both of which include electrodes that when energized will create electrostatic forces that attracts the flexible membrane to the non-pliable membrane. The MEM switches are manufactured in an array with a pitch that provides a sufficient number of switches to drive an optical display device and each switch may be latched to eliminate the need to constantly refresh the device.
