A circuit breaker trip unit enclosure is adapted to receive rotary knobs that are limited in rotation in proportion to the circuit breaker short circuit rating. The externally-accessible rotary knobs extend within the enclosure to contact with a potentiometer affixed to the circuit breaker trip unit printed circuit board. A stop member is inserted within the enclosure access opening to detent the rotary knob shank that extends through the access opening. |

Apparatus for adjusting the calibration of a thermal trip unit which is to be used in conjunction with an electrical circuit breaker. A rotatable knob is provided which adjusts the trip unit to between one hundred percent of the rating of the circuit breaker and some value which is less than one hundred percent. An adjustable stop screw is provided to engage the rotatable knob when the knob is rotated to adjust the calibration of the trip unit to the desired value which is less than one hundred percent of the rating of the breaker. The adjustable stop screw thereby limits travel of the adjustable knob between only one hundred percent of the rating of the circuit breaker and the desired value which is less than one hundred percent. |

In a circuit breaker includes a fixed contactor, a moving contactor subjected to a switching operation of a switching mechanism, a heater connected to the moving contactor and disposed in such a manner as to extend along a fixed core and a moving core pivotally supported by the fixed core, the fixed contactor is formed in a J-shape and is interposed between an insulating member disposed on the fixed contactor in such a manner as to extend along the side of the fixed contactor facing the moving contactor and a demagnetizing member disposed in such a manner as to extend along the bent inner surface. The circuit breaker includes also an operation time adjusting mechanism engaging with the moving core and capable of adjusting the operation time of the moving core, and a casing storing therein the constituent elements. The operation time adjusting mechanism is brought into abutment against an adjustment portion formed on the moving core, and is detachably mounted on the casing. |

A mechanical time delay mechanism is shown which provides a predetermined time delay between the movement of the moving contact blade on a circuit breaker and the activation of a switch. The control circuit design of the circuit breaker provides for tripping at one level when the breaker is in the closed position and at a second lower fault level when the circuit breaker is closing and for a predetermined number of cycles thereafter. The subject time delay mechanism activates a switch to change the tripping level from the second level to the first level at the appropriate time. The mechanism includes a pivot link assembly connected directly to the moving contact arm, a ratchet assembly, and a pivot link connecting the two. The pivot link assembly includes a set of springs to delay the movement of the link with respect to the movement of the pivot link in response to an opposing pull on the link. The pull on the link comes from the ratchet wheel which is slowed by a weighted rocker which rocks over several ratchet teeth. The switch is activated by a pin mounted on the ratchet wheel after the ratchet wheel has rotated through a predetermined angle. |

A pair of toggle links in a high amperage molded case circuit breaker are driven over center in response to the discharge of a closing spring for pivoting a plurality of blades and closing the breaker contacts. A latch link pivotally connected to the upper toggle link also is engaged by a pivotable latch along an arcuate surface on the latch so that shock forces are transmitted along a radial line of the latch for minimizing inadvertent rotational forces on the latch. The latch release force is rendered dependent on the spring force exerted through the links from the blade overtravel springs and the coefficient of friction of the latch arcuate surface. The force exerted through the links is controlled by an adjustable stop having an inclined surface engaging the pivot connection between the toggle links. Large movements of the stop provide small changes in the inclined surface position relative the pivot connection to provide small changes in the overcenter position. An adjustment assembly controls the distance the latch pivots for disengaging the latch link and a spring associated with the adjustment assembly provides additional shock isolation. Helical coil springs of cadmium copper alloy between the blades and a journal serve to eliminate pigtail connections for the blades. |

The disclosed circuit interrupter comprises a magnetic core structure including a magnetic core and magnetic yokes defining an annular magnetic gap around the core, and a primary and a secondary coil wound on the core to form a current transformer. The movable contact arm is disposed in the magnetic gap to be magnetically driven to the open position, and a magnetic armature of an instantaneous trip means is disposed adjacent to the magnetic yokes so that it is magnetically actuated upon a short-circuit current. A bimetallic element of a thermally responsive trip means is electrically connected to the secondary coil of the transformer. The magnetic yokes include extended portions which serve as magnetic means for driving an electric arc established between the separated contacts into an arc extinguisher which is also disposed between the magnetic yokes. |

A breaker including over current determining part and alarm part, and a security system using the same are provided to easily deliver abnormal condition to a user of a long distance by adding an alarm part emitting alarm sound to a breaker. A breaker comprises an over current determining part(110), an alarm part(120), an alarm signal generating part(130), and an alarm signal transmitting part(140). The over current determining part senses a load current. The alarm part emits an alarm sound in case the load current reaches a predetermined value. The alarm signal generating part generates an alarm signal in case the load current reaches a predetermined value. The alarm signal transmitting part receives the signal generated in the alarm signal generating part, converts the received signal into a signal suitable to a mobile terminal, and transmits the converted signal. |
