101 Circuit board with contact positions, as used for telecommunications terminals and other apparatus US785114 1985-10-07 US4647729A 1987-03-03 Geoffrey A. Collar; John S. Moss; Pak-Jong Chu; Paul D. McDonald; Brian E. Voss
A circuit pattern on a circuit board, as used in telecommunications systems and other electrical apparatus, often has contact positions for switches, such as pushbutton switches, and for other purposes. The normal copper circuit pattern is covered at the contact positions to give improved contact conditions. Carbon ink has been proposed by obtaining the necessary high level of alignment of carbon ink with the copper pattern at contact positions is difficult as such contact positions have very close members. The invention proposes contact positions having closely spaced inter-digital contact members, in which the circuit pattern extends to and stops at the peripheral region of a contact position, the contact members being of carbon ink and overlapping conductors of the circuit pattern at the peripheral region.

103 Low cost electronic apparatus construction method US702755 1985-02-19 US4635354A 1987-01-13 Michael J. Chrobak; Doyle R. Evans
The present invention is a low cost electronic apparatus construction method which may be employed for hand held calculators, electronic learning aids and electronic games. This technique involves a simplification in the construction of the apparatus including reduction in the number of piece parts necessary for the assembly. The primary electrical circuit interconnection pattern of the electronic apparatus is printed upon a part of the case of the apparatus which must be nonconducting. This printed circuit pattern together with the construction of the back case includes connection portions for electrical connection to the major components of the apparatus which may include an integrated circuit, a display device and an electrical power source. The primary circuit pattern printed on the back case includes a plurality of interleaved comb key switch positions. The keyboard is constructed employing a plurality of keys aligned in registration with the key switch portions, each key having a shorting bar for causing electrical connection across the key switch portion when the key is depressed. The top case of the apparatus has an aperture for viewing the display device and a plurality of apertures for the keys. In an alternative embodiment, this top case also includes an aperture enabling light to shine on a photovoltaic power cell employed to generate the electric power needed to operate the apparatus.

110 Matrix switch US3760360D 1971-11-01 US3760360A 1973-09-18 REYNOLDS R; NORDBERG S
A finger-pressure actuated matrix switch assembly includes a map overlay and generates a binary coded signal corresponding to the coordinates of the point of application of pressure to the map. The assembly comprises a housing with a slot for positioning a replaceable map card in operative position and a storage chamber for a plurality of such map cards. Each of the map cards is edgenotched with a unique code identifying that card, and switches supported on the housing are actuated by these notches when a map card is inserted into its operative position to generate a binary electrical signal corresponding to that code. The matrix or grid is formed by orthogonally related sets of printed conductors on stacked boards spaced apart by resilient strip separators formed directly on one of the boards. Logic circuitry for converting the coordinates of contacting conductors into binary digits is carried on a single pluggable board detachably connected to the matrix boards for quick replacement to facilitate maintenance and repair.
111 Pushbutton cantilevered leaf spring contact switch assembly for keyboard type switch arrays US3746816D 1971-05-18 US3746816A 1973-07-17 BRADY J
A low profile electromechanical keyboard switch, displaying very low electrical bounce. The switch key top bears against a generally cylindrical plunger which has a depressed flat portion on its side engageable with a tactile ball biased by a spring nested in the switch housing. Upon application of a force to the key top which exceeds a threshold value, the tactile ball is displaced from the flat and over the shoulder defined between the depressed flat and the cylindrical portion of the plunger. Sudden, positive movement of the plunger against an underlying contact leaf ensues. The contact leaf is branched into multiple contact fingers, and arranged with respect to an underlying contact plate so that wiping contact occurs between fingers and plate. The switch housing is configured to carry sufficient diodes and resistors to assure full control and encoding functions in the keyboard in which such switch may be mounted.
