An electronic circuit is configured to interpret large-scale capacitance variations of the grid as an intended input from the operator in a region identified by the capacitance variation, and to interpret small-scale capacitance variations of the grid as a position of engagement of the exposed surface by the operator.

SOLUTION: The detection device is installed on a mobile phone that has a main body 1, a lid 2 that is connected to the main body 1 capable of rotating, and a hinge member 3 that connects this lid 2 to the main body 1 capable of rotating. It comprises a movable contact 20 that is made of a ring shape pattern formed on one face of a rotating plate 19 of a rotating body 7 that rotates in accordance with the rotation of the hinge member 3 provided integrally with the lid 2, a common contact 21 that is made of a ring shape pattern formed on the other face of the rotating plate, and a wafer 14 that is fixed on the main body 1 side and holds a terminal 12 that has a fixed contact 10 for contacting sliding with the movable contact 20 and a terminal 13 that has a fixed contact 11 for contacting sliding with the common contact 21. The opening and closing of the lid 2 is detected in accordance with the opening and closing of the movable contact 20 and the fixed contact 10.
