A touch-sensitive input device has an exposed, continuous surface defining a planar area, and a grid of sense elements coextensive with the area of the exposed surface and responsive to engagement of the exposed surface by an operator to establish a position of said engagement of the exposed surface. The exposed surface varies in elevation across its planar area to form a series of tactile features. The exposed, continuous surface is affixed to the grid of sense elements. An electronic circuit is configured to interpret large-scale capacitance variations of the grid as an intended input from the operator in a region identified by the capacitance variation, and to interpret small-scale capacitance variations of the grid as a position of engagement of the exposed surface by the operator. |

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate a rubber sheet owing to keeping an integral form while insuring moving quantity necessary to the switch operation of a push button part, to reduce the number of parts and processes, to make cost reduction, also to easily make injection resin density uniform, also to obtain prescribed resin density and to improve a non-defective rate as for a resin molding push button for a portable terminal, its molding method and a metallic mold.
SOLUTION: Each push button part 6a in the cavity 6 of the metallic mold is connected to a connecting part 6b or a stretching part by a thin connecting part 6c extending so as to encircle a part of surroundings of the button 6a only at one portion. The part 6c to be a resin injection inlet to the part 6a is made larger than a normal injection inlet, and resin density is adjusted to be prescribed resin density by moving a slide core 8 after resin injection.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multistage key switch and portable information terminal equipment with which plural operating instructions can be executed by one key switch without generating a time lag.
SOLUTION: A member of extendable/contractible and uniform elastic material is used as a switch pole. A lower part of the switch pole is concentrically curved and projected with a center of the switch pole as the center and this curved surface is covered with the member of a conductor material. A switch contact is provided on a substrate under the switch pole and by pressing a switch, the switch is turned on since a switch contact P and a switch contact N are contacted with the surface of the switch pole conductor. The switch contact part on the substrate is arranged so that the switch contact P can be fitted just under the center of the switch pole and the switch contact N is concentrically arranged at the center of that switch contact P while surrounding that contact. A contact range of the switch pole conductor surface and the switch contact N is changed corresponding to size of pressure.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the manufacturing time by discharging the liquid silicon rubber onto a surface of a film previously formed, and crimping the silicon rubber with a mold or a press so as to form a unified key pad shape provided with keys connected to each other. SOLUTION: A film 2 is crimped by a hot press heated at the predetermined temperature so as to previously form a space for keys. The film 2 is formed with slits 10 between each key 17 by a punch or the like so as to secure the accurate key operation while preventing the interference of the keys with each other. The film 2 previously formed into the key shape is inserted into a main mold having a key-shaped groove, and a little larger quantity of the liquid silicon rubber than the key volume is discharged into each space for key shape of the film, and other die having the same shape with the bottom of the keys 17 is fitted for crimp, and the keys 17 respectively having a contact starting point are formed so as to manufacture a key pad. |
