A light guide (20) for illuminating keys of a keyboard or keypad of a portable electronic device, includes an array of apertures (22) and a groove (21) at one end of the light guide. The apertures are configured to illuminate the keys via a light source (10). The light source is disposed adjacent to the groove. A peripheral wall around each aperture is configured partially as a reflecting surface, and partially as a transmitting surface. The reflecting angle of the reflecting surface is larger than a critical total internal reflection angle so as to transfer the light farther. Keys of a keypad are configured to exhibit a wave-like vertical profile across a width of the keypad, thereby improving user comfort. Keys on the edge of the main grouping are raised, with the height of adjacent keys gradually reduced until a minimum (trough) is achieved. The height of the further adjacent keys is then increased until a maximum (peak) is achieved. In accordance with one embodiment, the keyboard includes two key troughs separated by an intervening raised key portion. The key troughs are positioned at the approximate location of hands resting on the home row of keys, for example in the case of a QWERTY keypad at the “D” key and at the “K” or “L” keys. The continuous, flowing change in the vertical profile of the keycaps renders the keyboard more accessible to the natural, relaxed state of the human hand, easing physical strain. | ||||||

Es handelt sich um ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Frontfolien (4) für Folientastaturen od. dgl., die aus Deckfolien (5), insbesondere Polyesterfolien bestehen, welche oberseitig eine kratzfeste, harte, ggf. mattierte Schutzschicht (5') aufweisen, die beispielsweise aus einem Zweikomponentenlack oder einem durch UV-Licht gehärteten Lack besteht, und welche unterseitig mit einem mehrfarbigen Druckbild versehen sind, wobei neben beliebigen Farben und Färbtönen auch Weiß als Farbe zur Verfügung stehen soll und die Frontfolie (4) auch unbedruckte Sichtfenster (13) haben kann. Zur Erzielung eines qualitativ hochwertigen Farbdrucks wird eine Deckfolie (5) verwendet, die nur auf der zu bedruckenden unterseitigen Fläche mit einer Farbtonerhaftschicht (4') versehen ist. Bedruckt wird diese in einem computergesteuerten Drucker nach dem elektrostatischen Druckverfahren (Laserdruckverfahren) mit Farbtoner auf der Haftschichtseite. Die bedruckte Fläche wird anschließend ggf. unter Aussparung von Fensteröffnungen (13) mit weißer Farbe überzogen. |
