An electric wiring switch having an electromagnetic open-circuit shunt tripping device with a magnet armature that, when the tripping device is tripped, acts upon a latching shaft to release a latch upon the ocurrence of a fault current in an electrical circuit wherein the switch is connectible, and also having an indicating device lastingly indicating the tripping of the open circuit shunt tripping device, an operating button displaceable between a first position thereof wherein the switch is in an "on" condition and the operating button is spring loaded, and a second position thereof wherein the switch is in an "off" condition and the operating button is released from the spring loading, the operating button being formed with projection means extending therefrom which, in the "on" condition of the switch, are engaged behind corresponding extension means extending from the latching shaft for firmly retaining the operating button in the first position thereof, and which, in the "off" condition of the switch, after the operating button is in the second position thereof, are engaged with the extension means of firmly retaining the latching shaft in a released position thereof which is assumed thereby when the tripping device is tripped.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch mechanism comprising a trip indicator mechanism for a breaker etc. SOLUTION: This switch mechanism has a rocker which can move freely among a switch contact, a first position where the switch contact is closed, a second position where the switch contact is opened and which indicates that an electrical fault has occurred and a third position where the switch mechanism is reset and the switch contact is opened. The rocker preferably comprises two rocker members which are hinged to each other, and one rocker member has a step formation part between a front surface and an end surface.The step formation part is provided with an instruction with respect to the reset of the mechanism and practically placed on the same plane with a front panel of a breaker housing when the rocker is in the second position, and the surface of the first rocker member is partially projected from the front panel. Each of the positions corresponds to a respective one of the trip parameter combinations, wherein the electronic trip unit is structured to, responsive to a chosen one of the plurality of predetermined positions being selected by the multi-position selector, cause the one of the trip parameter combinations corresponding to the chosen one of the plurality of predetermined positions to be used by the electronic trip unit to determine whether to cause the operating mechanism to trip open the separable contacts.
