The invention relates to a current collector (4), especially a current collector of a regulating transformer, for the sliding displacement on a contact path (5) which is formed by at least partially insulated segments, especially windings (7) of a coil (2). The current collector (4) comprises two electrically separated contact pieces (8) which respectively contact the contact path (5) with a contact area (9). A contact area (9) is dimensioned in such a way that it exclusively contacts the surface of one insulated segment (7). The two contact pieces (8) are rigidly coupled together. Both of the contact areas (9) are arranged on a common contact surface and the contact area makes it possible to bridge the intermediate area (11) between two neighbouring segments (7).
9 | Tansformer with a turn ratio variable while in operation | EP85830050.2 | 1985-02-27 | EP0192915A1 | 1986-09-03 | Secondo, Giovannini; Gianni, Giovannini |
Transformer with a turn ratio variable while in operation which has at least two wires (20,22) wound together on the same core, exactly interleaved and insulated with respect to each other, and on them there is formed a collector free from insulation, on which a contact metal brush (24) slides, that at every moment, during its movement, touches every wire (20,22) of the winding at the most at only one point. The ends of the wires (20,22) are connected to each other, possibly through impedances and the end inductances counteract the internal circulation current due to the turn short-circuit. At least one turn of at least one wire (20,22) of the winding is only partially linked with the total flux of the magnetic core of the transformer. By means of the use of at least another parted flux turn, the balancing of the voltage differences at the ends of the numerous wires is assured anyway, and the arrangement is such that each wire of the collector has the same voltage difference with respect to each of the two contiguous wires. |

An electrical device having a commutating surface formed of segments of electrical conductors upon which a contact brush is movable while in electrical engagement therewith. Means are provided to "step" the brush between segments, so that when at rest, the brush contacts no more than one segment, thus reducing short-circuiting currents and overheating. |

PURPOSE:To take out a large output power without a voltage loss by a method wherein end parts of a sliding type transformer wound with two pieces of conductor in parallel are connected through a junction member in which a metal and carbon are in a plane contact with each other, and input terminals are connected. CONSTITUTION:Two pieces of conductor 4, 4' are wound in parallel and end parts thereof are connected with a junction member C. The junction member C is formed in a sandwith constitution having a center electrode plate 10, end part electrode plates 9, 9' and therebetween carbon plates 11, 11'. Because of a contact potential characteristics of a contact plane between carbon and metal, a short-circuited current is made very small. With doing in this way, without a voltage loss, a large output current can be obtained.

16 | A variable transformer | EP88300310.5 | 1988-01-15 | EP0277716A1 | 1988-08-10 | Hansen, Ove |
A variable transformer comprising an annular core with a winding which at the end surface of the core is provided with a circular contact path to be connected with a current brush mounted on a rotor (7). The current brush consists of a contact roller journalled on a shaft pin (11) which from the rotor (7) is directed obliquely downwardly towards the end surface of the core and inwardly towards the axis thereof. The contact roller includes a double-curved contact path (17) for punctiform contact with the contact path (18) of the winding. The reactive pressure provided by said contact urges the contact roller upwardly along the shaft pin (11) which were secured to the rotor (7) is provided with a contact plate (14) that is in heat-conducting communication with the rotor (7). The contact plate (14) includes a plane circular surface (15) against which a correspondingly plane, circular surface (16) of the contact roller about the bore (12) thereof abuts. The contact roller is delimited by a conical surface the generatrix of which extends from the periphery of the circular surface (15ʹ) to the outer periphery of the contact path (17) of the roller. The rotor (7) is bowl-shaped and its top surface shape corresponds to the internal surface of the upper part of a housing for encasing the transformer. |

PURPOSE:To obtain an autotransformer which has great resistance against instantaneous overload using autotransformer and a brush on the market by providing a balancing coil connected to winding terminals with plural brush electric potentials and by connecting the balancing potential of the balancing coil to the third terminal. CONSTITUTION:Input voltage Ei is applied between the first and the second terminals. If voltage induced in a winding 4 at the contact point of a brush 5a is assumed to be EA and voltage induced in the winding 4 at the contact point of a brush 5b is assumed to be EB, the voltage at the middle tap of a balancing coil 6, i.e., output voltage EO becomes (EA+EB)/2 since the ratio of winding number divided by the middle tap of the balancing coil 6 is 1:1. A circulating current due to the difference of the voltage EA and EB is also limited by the impedance of the balancing coil 6. The contact positions between the winding 4 and the brushes 5a and 5b are shifted by the rotation of a shaft 10 and the output voltage EO is set at a required value. |
