Content receivers may simultaneously record multiple instances of content for multiple programming channels based on content provider instructions. Systems and methods utilize the content receivers to perform memory jumping operations within files having the simultaneously recorded multiple instance of content stored therein. The memory jumping operation may jump locations within the file corresponding to a predetermined memory jumping operation timeframe, and in order to account for the variability in the recording bit rate and therefore the playing of the instance of content, the jump locations in the memory jumping operation may be dynamically adjusted based on recording bit rates. |

A thin display apparatus equipped with a video display panel controls rise in temperature of a disk drive by heat-transfer from high temperature internals of the apparatus. A thermal insulating recess is formed in a face of a rear side casing which faces a disk drive unit, and a surface of the disk drive unit mounted on the rear side casing seals the thermal insulating recess. An area of the thermal insulating recess sealed by the disk drive unit becomes a thermal insulating layer between the rear side casing and the disk drive unit, and the thermal insulating layer interrupts thermal transfer from the high temperature internals of the apparatus to the disk drive unit. |

The present invention prevents data stored in memory cards from being damaged while maintaining the operability of inserting and ejecting memory cards. A device has a connection section to which a memory card 11 is connected. The memory card 11 is different from an optical disc 10 on which image data are recorded. The device checks whether the memory card 11 is connected to the connection section. When the device starts performing certain processes to the memory card 11 after detecting that the memory card 11 is connected, the device performs mount processes. When the device stops performing the certain processes, the device immediately performs unmount processes to the memory card 11. The memory card 11 is unmounted while the device is not performing the certain processes. Unmounting the memory card 11 prevents data stored in the memory card 11 from being damaged even if a user accidentally ejects it. |
