A data storage assembly includes an array of fibers with magnetic coatings. The fibers are in an X-Y array, and individual fibers are selected by moving the array relative to fiber extracting and return assemblies. A selected fiber is pushed past a transducer for writing and/or reading data and then is returned to the array. A number of fibers equal to a data channel width, such as sixteen fibers, is accessed simultaneously in parallel. The array is made by winding a ring of fiber, making a honeycomb wall structure while winding the fiber, and then severing short segments from the ring. |

7 | Quick Record Function In A Smart Pen Computing System | US12415115 | 2009-03-31 | US20090251336A1 | 2009-10-08 | Jim Marggraff; Tracy L. Edgecomb |
Embodiments of the invention present a system and method for controlling audio capture by a smart pen based computing system. An audio capture mechanism that is independent from a gesture capture system is included on the smart pen to control audio capture by one or more microphones included on the smart pen. In one embodiment, the audio capture mechanism comprises a shared function button, such as a power button. For example, a user interaction with the shared function button initiates audio capture by the one or more microphones on the smart pen and a second user interaction with the shared audio function stops audio capture. Alternatively, audio capture is stopped after completion of a predefined time interval after the user interaction with the shared function button.

An improvement on the information record/reproducing apparatus, utilizing a tunnel current generated in a flat information recording medium by a needle-shaped probe electrode positioned close to the recording medium. In order to prevent deterioration of the probe and the recording medium by the atmosphere, these components are hermetically sealed in a container, with or without the driving mechanism. The sealed structure is made detachable from the main apparatus, thus facilitating manufacture, replacement and maintenance.

PURPOSE:To realize the direct reproduction of recorded sounds through a sheet- like material, by adhering a magnetic tape onto a paper or plastic sheet and providing a rail or channel in parallel to the magnetic tape in order to run a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic thin film 2 which has a linearly long strip form is coated on the surface of a paper or synthetic resin substrate 1 for the recording of sounds. The recorded sound is reproduced by sliding a magnetic head on the film 2. A stage part is formed close to and in parallel to the film 2 so that the vertical section of the stage part forms a depressed channel 4 or a projection. Then the magnetic head is slided on the basis of the stage part. A soft and elastic cushion material 3 is placed between the substrate 1 and the film 2 in order to ensure the close adhesion of the magnetic head.
