A perpetual symbol coded means for calendaring, presenting - in one embodiment - a two-dimensional matrix which graphically presents the basic information of the month, day and date for a given year. Correlation of the basic calendaring data is achieved by way of a matrix, whereby a column arrays monthly data, another columnar arrangement offers day information for consideration and a yearly designator appears as a legend or heading. A method of use, including a means for extrapolation of any desired yearly information into the present invention is taught in addition to software means for implementing the same. | ||||||

An electronic calendaring method for use in a data processing system that comprises a plurality of interactive type work stations connected directly or indirectly to a host processing unit. A method assists a calendar owner to request the system to develop and display a composite calendar comprising entries from a plurality of calendars within a specified time span which have been selected by criteria entered interactively into the system by the calendar owner. The criteria entered are not limited to "free periods" nor system established terminology but can include terms established by the calendar owner community. |

An electronic calendaring method for use in a data processing system in which calendar entries that have been made for the same time span independently on two different copies of the calendar can be automatically and interactively reconciled. A method permits a calendar owner to obtain a machine readable transportable copy of his calendar on a diskette, to update that copy when the master copy is not available to him because of a business trip, for example, and upon his return to automatically and interactively reconcile the updated entries that have been made to both copies so that at least one of them reflects the correct status of calendered events for that owner. |

An electronic device with calendar function includes a timer for supplying a carry signal for every 24 hours in response to a clock signal and a date counter (33) for counting the carry signal. A CPU (21) reads out the calendar data stored in a memory (30) and adds the content of the date counter (33) to the calendar data so as to perform the processing such as the updating process of year, month and date and the updating process for the leap year, when the CPU (21) is operated in response to the start operation by means of a keyboard (12) or a reader/writer to which the electronic device is connected. |
