The invention is a method and apparatus for utilizing finger control switches (SW1 to SW10) connected to a binary code receiver for the purpose of driving a printer and/or a visual and/or audible readout device. The device is made up of a number of switches normally in the open position which can be depressed to a closed position. The input from the switches is communicated to a binary code receiver, which activates a printer, a visual readout or an audible device. The finger buttons (of solenoids Sol-1 to Sol-10) for operating the switches can also be operated electrically, for example from a suitably programmed central processor, so as to transmit to an operator's fingers desired switch operating combinations for teaching purposes. The apparatus is used both for communication to other equipment and as a teaching device for physically demonstrating the combination of switch positions required to produce a given command. |

In a keyboard device, a label having an identifier 41L is attached to the upper left corner of the key top of each character key in a left-hand region; and a label having an identifier 41R is attached to the upper right corner of the key top of each character key in a right-hand region. The identifier 41L is a mark of an upturned L-shape and the identifier 41R is a mark of mirror pattern of the identifier 41L. Further, different colors are applied to the identifiers 41L and 41R depending on the regions in which the fingers belong respectively. Therefore, the identifiers 41L and 41R have a function to visually display informations about the left or right hand and which finger of the hand are to be used to press a key, thereby providing a keyboard device enabling a user to naturally understand the key arrangement and finger usage. |

15 | Identifying fingers in learning computer keyboarding | US15657341 | 2017-07-24 | US20180130370A1 | 2018-05-10 | Istvan Szent-Miklosy |
A method and apparatus for learning computer keyboarding is disclosed in which the system determines which finger a user has used to press a particular key. The system comprises a real-time feed from a video camera, a means of analyzing the feed to determine the finger used to press any given key, and an app. The video feed captures the user's hands, as the fingers hover over and press particular keys on the keyboard. The system analyzes by one of a variety of methods the pixel region in the video feed corresponding to a particular key, and is thereby able to recognize which finger was used to press the indicated key. The system decreases the time required to gain proficiency in computer keyboarding by providing immediate feedback of incorrect finger use.
16 | Chinese input method using pinyin plus tones | US15012822 | 2016-02-01 | US09965045B2 | 2018-05-08 | Hoi Chiu Lo |
This invention discloses a Chinese input method using Pinyin plus a new tone notation on a Western keyboard or keypad to input Chinese characters, characterized in that the user can input a Chinese compound word (polysyllabic word) containing several syllables and tones by just keying in a series of letters representing the syllables and tones of the word, and the letters are all joined together without causing any confusion. This feature is attributed to the new tone input method of this invention, which is characterized in that the three letters j, q and x are used to input three of the four tones of Putonghua (Mandarin), and “no entry” is used to input the remaining tone. There is a detailed logical reasoning in the specification of this patent application explaining how this method can achieve the feature of “syllables with tones are joined together without causing confusion”. Input of these syllables with tones via just a Western keyboard, together with the important feature of “the syllables with tones are joined together without causing confusion”, will have a major impact on the technical field of Chinese input method.

Embodiments present a game in which an ordered plurality of characters is presented for entry by a user with a touch screen, a physical keyboard, or other key input layout. The game advances to each successive character when the user presses the intended character or a character adjacent thereto. Contact areas are determined for each press, and in some embodiments the contact areas are overlaid on the keyboard. The contact areas are used to adjust user-specific touch models to improve text entry by the user. In some embodiments, the contact areas indicate areas for improvement by the user. Game completion statistics are calculated including speed and accuracy.

While the typing game is executed, if it is determined that the character of the key 2001 input coincides with the character displayed on the display, the LEDs 2302, 2303 within the key 2001 input are temporarily turned on in blue color, thereby the keytop 2401 of the key 2001 input is temporarily colored in blue color. On the other hand, if it is determined that the character of the key 2001 input does not coincide with the character displayed on the display, the LEDs 2302, 2303 within the key 2001 input is temporarily turned on in red color, thereby the keytop 2402 of the key 2001 input is temporarily colored in red color. Therefore, the player can confirm on the keyboard 3 whether press and operation of the key 2001 is correct or false, through the color of the keytop 2401 of the key 2001 right after the key 2001 is input.
19 | Learning keyboard for children | US10358186 | 2003-02-05 | US20040152057A1 | 2004-08-05 | Novia Chen |
A learning keyboard for children utilizes different colors to separate key positions corresponding to left and right hands' fingers at the typing region of a keyboard. Fonts at each key position are livelier and smarter, and symbol at each key position are enlarged. Simultaneously, through the operation of a software, when a user presses down any key at the typing region, which kind of color the key belongs to is immediately determined, and the music of a children's song is played to help memorization, thereby helping the user learn the correct way of keyboard input and letting learning be livelier and funnier.
