1310932 Windows W FRACH 20 Feb 1970 [20 Feb 1969] 5723/70 Heading E1J [Also in Division F2] A control device for hydraulically sealing or holding a window by pressure hoses 1, 2, 3 comprises two rotatably mounted pinion wheels cooperating with two displaceably mounted gear racks 9, 10 connected to moveable parts of two piston and cylinder arrangements 11, 12. In Fig. 2, shaft 19 is rotated in a clockwise direction to move rack 10 out of engagement with pinion wheel 4 by pressure of cam disk 13 on stop 17 and to move rack 9 into engagement with another pinion wheel behind wheel 4. Piston 12 is drawn towards the pinion wheels by rack 9, producing suction at the cylinder bore to empty hoses 3 and 1 (Fig. 1) which are connected by bores 7 and 8 into the cylinder bore. The window is thus unsealed on all sides except the lower horizontal and is free to tilt about horizontal axis 30. Anticlockwise rotation of the shaft from this position reverses the process to reseal the window until the position shown in Fig. 2 is reached. Continued anticlockwise rotation then releases pressure in hoses 2 and 3 to unseal the window and allow it to pivot about vertical axis 29. |

A control device having a single lever movable between at least two locating positions to apply an actuating force to one or more remote servient mechanisms. A holding means retains the control lever in the selected locating position, and a first drive means operatively connects the control lever to a tong means comprised of rotatably opposed tong arms. Engagement of the first drive means with the tong means rotates one arm thereof in response to movement of the control lever, and an energy receiving and storing means between the tong arms receives the force incident to rotation of the one tong arm and applies it biasingly against the second tong arm for rotation thereof. A second drive means operatively connects the tong means to a throw member so that rotation of the second tong arm will move the throw member to operate a motion-transmitting device connected between the control and each remote servient mechanism.
