PURPOSE: To obtain a practice bullet having improved flying characteristics and shooting accuracy by composing the powder charging part of an iron powder layer and arranging a shock absorbing element between a bulk iron powder layer and a deep drawn pan. CONSTITUTION: The projectile 1 of a practice bullet is loaded in a cartridge 2 and propelled by a propulsion powder 3. A cover ring is set between the projectile 1 and the powder 3. Lower part 5 of the cartridge is screwed over the upper part 4 of the cartridge 2 and charging powder 6 is contained in the lower part. The powder 6 comprises a black powder 7 and a high energy nitrocotton 8 with a gauze 9 being interposed between them. The lower part 5 is enclosed with respect to the outside by a deep drawn metal pan 11 and a bulk iron powder layer 12 arranged on a thick absorbing element 13 is encapsulated between the pan 11 and a cage 10. The element 13 is bonded to the pan 11. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO

A practice ammunition projectile has a projectile head with one or more sheets of plastic material, each having a plurality of frangible "bubble shaped" compartments containing liquid chemical components for optical and/or Infrared marking of a target upon impact. The sheets are preferably flexible sheets in the nature of a "bubble wrap" of the type used as padding for packaging. These so-called "matrix packages'' are installed adjacent the inner surface of the shell forming the projectile head and provide stability when the compartments break up upon setback when the projectile is fired from a weapon.

Practice cartridge comprising a propellant sleeve (2), which is at least partially filled with a propellant powder (9), and a fin-stabilized full-calibre practice projectile (3), fastened to the front of the propellant sleeve (2), wherein the practice projectile (3) comprises a solid head part (4) and a tubular tail assembly (5) adjoining the head part (4) to the rear. To achieve the effect that, after firing the practice cartridge (1), no appreciable pressure fluctuations occur in the barrel of the corresponding weapon even in the case of relatively small amounts of propellant powder (9), the invention proposes that a container in the form of a bag and containing the propellant powder (9) extends axially from the bottom end region of the propellant sleeve (2) into the inner space (13) of the tubular tail assembly (5).

The invention relates to, in particular, an explosive exercise projectile comprising a single-pieced casing and having the characteristic detonation, flash, smoke etc of an original explosive projectile. According to the invention, said explosive exercise projectile is transferred into a multi-part projectile casing (5, 15, 25) such that said newly configured projectile (1, 11, 21) also has the explosive projectile characteristics when being used.
