PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recoil damping device for portable firearms that performs an optimum operation for a wide range of ammunition, from the weakest ammunition to the most powerful ammunition.SOLUTION: A recoil damping device 1 for portable firearms includes a casing 2 in which recoil damping means is inserted. The damping means 3 includes a fixed part 5 and a movable part 6. The fixed part 5 is substantially integral with the casing 2. The movable part 6 may slide along a substantially axial direction inside the casing 2. The damping means 3 is made of a material having elastic hysteresis and includes a set of flexible members connecting the fixed part 5 to the movable part 6. The flexible members have different stiffness. |

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rifle or a shotgun having a gliding barrel by forming the housing and the stock as a unit through plastic molding, providing a metallic insert in the housing and containing optional accessories in the hollow stock. SOLUTION: The housing 3 and the stock 5 are formed as a unit through plastic molding and a metallic insert 11 is provided in the housing 3. The insert 11 is constructed of a box type body corresponding to the cross-section of the housing 3 by forming a reverse U-shaped cross-section including a front part 13 comprising a plate 15 having a threaded joint 23 for tubular magazine and a semicircular joint 17 receiving the barrel of a weapon. Furthermore, the stock 5 is made hollow so that optional accessories can be contained therein and coupled through a grip region 7 with the housing 3 to provide a grip means. |

A laminated rifle stock includes first and second layers cut from a wood blank having growth rings. The second layer is rotated about a longitudinal axis thereof or widthwise with respect to the first layer such that the growth rings of the first layer substantially mirror the growth rings of the second layer. |

A solid, single-pour synthetic weapon stock comprises polyurethane and an equal amount by volume of a spacing material of silica-alumina ceramic microspheres blended into the polyurethane. For additional strength, a U-shaped bar having spaced apart bores is disposed within the weapon stock. A process for manufacturing the polyurethane weapon stock, comprises the steps of blending polyurethane with the spacing material to form a polyurethane reactant, placing the U-shaped bar into a mold having a void of a shape of the weapon stock, pouring the polyurethane reactant into the void and allowing the polyurethane reactant to react to form a polyurethane object having the shape of the void, curing the polyurethane object and removing the polyurethane object from the mold. |
