49 LINEAR GENERATOR AND SYSTEM TO CAPTURE ENERGY FROM IRREGULAR LINEAR MOVEMENT PCT/US2005008663 2005-03-15 WO2005089347A3 2006-10-26 RICHARDSON GROVER; GRAY GARY; STANCIL CHARLES M
A system for capturing and storing electrical energy from irregular limited reciprocal linear movement along a cylinder, such as a shock absorber of a vehicle. A linear generator with electrical coils (5) is wound around the cylinder (9) parallel to the movement of the cylinder or along the cylinder. The electrical current generated by the linear generator can be stored in a battery (70). The energy from the recoil of a large military gun (100) can also be captured by a generator along the barrel (102) of the gun and stored in the battery. A processing device (68) can be included to control the flow of electrical energy from the linear generator to the battery. The electrical current can pass through a filter (61) and may be processed by a conditioner to limit the range of voltage generated by the linear generator.
50 Mechanism that automatically opens the breech block wedge on a semi-automatic weapon US436500 1982-10-25 US4462299A 1984-07-31 Peter Grunewald; Rudolf Brockmeyer
A mechanism that automatically opens the breech block wedge on a semi-automatic weapon, especially a tank cannon with a training liner. Mounted on the breech of the weapon is an electromechanical drive mechanism that includes an electric motor with a drive shaft on which is mounted an energy-saving flywheel that can be connected through adjustable couplings and a reduction gear to an opener shaft on which is mounted an opener lever that shifts the breech block wedge into the open position when the shaft rotates. The flywheel is accelerated to a nominal speed when the couplings are disengaged. Electronic controls then engage the couplings for a predetermined amount of time and turn off the electric motor. Some of the energy of rotation of the flywheel is transferred to the opener lever. The couplings are then disengaged and the electric motor turned on again. The electronic controls are practically activated by the firing pulse and/or the actual firing procedure.
51 Sliding breech block mechanism US3687001D 1966-05-06 US3687001A 1972-08-29 BRINT NORMAN TREVOR
This invention comprises, in a gun, a sliding breech block mechanism wherein the breech block is connected to at least one pivot carried by a rocker member which incorporates a convex rocker segment in hypocyclic engagement with a coacting concave track formed in, or attached to, the gun: means being provided for inducing, on recoil of the gun, hypocyclic motion of each rocker segment relative to its track whereby the consequent movement of the pivot or pivots operates the breech block.

359,608. Ordnance. SCHNEIDER ET CIE, 42, Rue d'Anjou, Paris. Aug. 8, 1930, No. 23785. Convention date, May 24. [Class 92 (ii).] Breech mechanism.-Relates to semi-automatic mechanism of the kind described in Specification 306,113, [Class 92 (ii), Ordnance &c.], in which during run-out the breech is automatically opened against the action of a closing spring by the engagement of a pin c<1> on the operating lever C with an abutment e<3> on a rail E, the pin riding on a surface el on the rail to hold the breech open until the pin is released by hand-operated means Q to permit the breech to close. According to the present invention, the pin is moved to effect the release instead of moving the rail as in the prior Specification. The invention is shown applied to breech mechanism having an eccentric breech block B, Fig. 2, rotated by a pinion K engaging as a nut with a threaded piston-rod I<1> connected by a link C2 with an arm c<3> fast with the pivoted operating lever C. The closing spring J is compressed by a loose piston I<2> on the rod I<1> against which bears a second piston I fast with the rod. The piston I<2> can be held by a pivoted stop z to hold the spring compressed when the breech is opened by hand. The pin c<1> on the operating lever is released by an arm L<1> rocked about a vertical axis by a rod M which is moved against the action of a spring N by an arm o<1> on the lever Q when this lever is moved to the right. For the purpose of firing by hand, the lever Q is moved to the left and operates through rods P, S and lever T to lower a slide U, a hole U<1> in which then registers with a rod V on the firing mechanism to permit of forward movement of the rod to fire the gun. The rod V is cocked against the action of a spring W by rotating the firing hammer X which is geared with the rod by teeth V<1>. The gun can be fired automatically by adjusting the part T' of the lever T into engagement with a rod y which is pressed forwards by the rod I<1> at the end of the closing movement of the breech.
