Die Erfindung betrifft eine Wärmeschutzhülle (2) für ein Waffenrohr (1), insbesondere für ein Kanonenrohr, wobei die Wärmeschutzhülle (2) eine das Waffenrohr (1) umgebende Metallhülle (3) umfasst.

Um auf einfache und kostengünstige Weise eine ungleichmäßige Erwärmung der Rohroberfläche innerhalb der Wärmeschutzhülle (2) zu vermeiden, schlägt die Erfindung vor, an der der Unterseite (5) des Waffenrohres (1) gegenüberliegenden inneren Oberfläche (6) der Metallhülle (3) einen zusätzlichen, Wärmestrahlen besonders gut reflektierenden Bereich vorzusehen, so dass bei Erwärmung des Waffenrohres (1) die Temperaturunterschiede zwischen der Ober- und Unterseite des Waffenrohres (1) mindestens teilweise kompensiert werden. Als Wärmestrahlen gut reflektierender Bereich ist dabei eine mit der Metallhülle (3) kraftschlüssig verbundene Reflexionsfolie (4) vorgesehen.

A barrel (10) has an inner tube (12) with cartridge chamber (28) at one end and a muzzle (16) at the other. An outer tube (56) is secured to and surrounds said inner tube to form a propellant chamber (60) therewith. The barrel guides projectiles such as bullets (32) as they are accelerated by a propellant. The inner tube has a wall with an aperture (62) formed therein and spaced inwardly from said muzzle. Propellant gasses pass through the aperture into said propellant chamber. A plurality of ribs (52) also extend between the inner and outer tubes. A coolant may also be injected into the propellant chamber to escape through the muzzle with the propellant after the projectile exits the muzzle.

Mit dieser Kühleinrichtung kann die sich entwickelnde Wärme in einem das Geschoss führenden Bereich des Patronenlagers einer Revolvertrommel schnell und wirksam abgeführt werden, so dass eine übermässige Erwärmung des die Hülse führenden Bereiches des Patronenlagers verhindert wird. Zu diesem Zweck sind jedem Patronenlager (3) zwei parallel zur Trommelachse (2) verlaufende Kühlkanäle (4) zugeordnet, die sich über die ganze Länge der Geschossführung des Patronenlagers (3) erstrecken. Die jeweils einem bestimmten Patronenlager (3) zugeordneten Kühlkanäle (4) sind an ihren Enden im Innern der Revolvertrommel (1) miteinander verbunden. Im Bereich der einen Stirnseite der Revolvertrommel (1) steht jeweils der erste (4') von zwei einem Patronenlager (3) zugeordneten Kühlkanälen (4) über erste tangentiale Verbindungsrohre (10) und radiale Eingangskanäle (12) mit einem in der Trommelachse (2) vorgesehenen Zuflusskanal (13) in Verbindung. Jeweils der zweite (4'') von zwei einem Patronenlager (3) zugeordneten Kühlkanälen (4) ist im Bereich der einen Stirnseite der Revolvertrommel (1) über zweite tangentiale Verbindungsrohre (15) und radiale, parallel zu den Eingangskanälen verlaufende Ausgangskanäle mit einem in der Trommelachse (2) vorgesehenem Abflusskanal verbunden.
