81 Recoilless and detonation-free projectile firing device US3771417D 1972-08-09 US3771417A 1973-11-13 SCHNABELE W; ZEYHER F; WEIS D
A recoilless and detonation-free projectile firing device comprises a tube having a front muzzle end with an inturned flange portion defining a front end stop and a rear end with a cap secured thereto with an inturned flange which defines a rear end stop. The tube contains a cartridge case made of an elastic material of a low modulus of elasticity which has an outer diameter which permits it to be snugly fitted within the interior of the tube. Arranged within the cartridge case from the front muzzle end toward the opposite rear end in order and in ready-touse form are: a muzzle end brake ring adjacent the front stop, a projectile to be fired, a cartridge case base for the projectile, a propellant charge, an opposite cartridge case base having an inert material of easy divisibitlity and a rear end braking ring. All of the elements are combined in the cartridge case and are hermetically sealed therein by diaphragms which are secured to each end of the case.
82 Braking system for high acceleration operated free pistons US3762279D 1972-03-13 US3762279A 1973-10-02 ZEYHER F
A braking system for high acceleration operated free pistons comprises a cylinder having one end with an inturned flange which provides a stop or abutment for a deformable shell in the form of a cylinder which is opened at each end. The piston, which is freely movable in the cylinder in a direction toward the shell is provided with a concave face on the side facing toward the shell and with a rim which engages behind an inwardly turned rim of the braking shell. The shell is deformed inwardly into the concave recess of the forward end of the free piston upon the impact of the piston against the shell and the deformation of the shell provides a shock absorption for the impact of the piston.
83 Recoilless firearm and cartridge therefor US3738219D 1970-11-16 US3738219A 1973-06-12 FEBRES V
A recoilless firearm, and round of ammunition therefore, are disclosed. The firearm has a bolt having a bore therein for the passage of exhaust gasses from the firing chamber to an exhaust tube at the rear end of the weapon. The exhaust tube contains a restricted opening, such as a venturi, to counter recoil. The round of ammunition has a single gas discharge opening in its rear end, with the ammunition casing having no apertures in the walls thereof. The use of the recoilless firearm, and round of ammunition therefor, of the present invention allows automatic and semiautomatic weapons to be extremely light while utilizing powerful ammunition propelling charges.
84 Expendable launcher munition US3718070D 1971-04-23 US3718070A 1973-02-27 SCHNEIDER C
AN APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR LAUNCHING MUNITIONS TO A TARGET SITE FROM AN EXPENDABLE LAUNCHING MEANS. THE EXPENDABLE LAUNCHER IS DESIGNED SO IT IS NOT CAPABLE OF BEING RE-USED.
85 Disposable projectile launcher of the recoilless type US3677131D 1970-12-16 US3677131A 1972-07-18 A-NEE MICHNEL
A disposable projectile launcher is disclosed in which a round of ammunition includes a tubular case section having a nozzle and enclosing a projectile and a propellant charge and slidably fitting within the rear end of a launcher section so that the two sections can have a shortened, inoperative relationship and an extended, operative relationship. Firing means are connected to the round and include a trigger carried by the launcher section and operable only in the operative relationship of the sections. A gas pressure retaining seal between the overlap of the sections in their operative relationship maintains internal pressures suitable for the efficient burning of the propellant. The projectile has a releasable connection with the case section at the nozzle end thereof.
86 Blow-out disc US3614907D 1969-03-12 US3614907A 1971-10-26 HAGLUND NILS E; KNUTSSON KNUT G
A DUCTILE METAL DAMMING WASHER OR DISK, THE MARGINAL EDGE PORTION OF THE FRONT END OF WHICH IS IN CONTACT WITH A REAR ANNULAR SURFACE OF A CONSTRICTION PROVIDED WITHIN THE BARREL OF THE GUN. A SUB-CALIBRE COMBUSTION CHAMBER HAVING A SET OF RADIAL SUPPORTING MEMBERS OF KNOWN TYPE, EXTENDS THROUGH THE CONSTRICTION AND THROUGH THE DISC. THE CHAMBER IS KEPT IN A CORRECT RADIAL AND AXIAL POSITION BY MEANS OF A SECOND SET OF RADIAL SUPPORTING MEMBERS BEHIND THE DISC, SIMULTANEOUSLY CLAMPING IT TO THE CONSTRICTION. THE GAS PRESSURE, WHEN FIRING A ROUND, WILL SPLIT THE DISC AND FORM OR FOLD ITS SECTIONS INTO TAB-LIKE ELEMENTS THAT WILL EXTEND AROUND THE LEADING END OF THE SUPPORTING MEMBERS IN THE REAR SET OF SAID RADIAL SUPPORTING MEMBERS.
87 Device for launching flying bodies US3595127D 1965-07-26 US3595127A 1971-07-27 STANGL ARNOLD; PFISTER FRANZ
1. A device for launching flying bodies particularly reactiondriven missiles, comprising a substantially ball-shaped pivot member, means pivotally mounting said pivot member for pivotal movement about a first normally horizontal axis and about a second normally vertical axis, at least one first and one second flying body launching tube rotatably mounted on said pivot member, control means operatively connected to said pivotal mounting means for said pivot member for pivoting said pivot member about said first and second axes, said pivot member having a loading opening defined therethrough below the pivotal mounting of said launching tubes thereon, said first and second launching tubes being rotatable between a firing position at which one of said first and second launching tubes extends above said ball member and a loading position at which one of said first and second loading tubes extends in alignment with the loading opening defined in said ball member, and a closure flap carried by said ball member and movable between a position closing said opening and a position opening said opening.
