PURPOSE: To minimize a drying or hardening time of an ink layer and/or a varnish layer by using a UV or VUV beam generator used for a printing press.
CONSTITUTION: A dielectric wall 5 is disposed near one of two electrodes 2. A capacitive coupling of an electric energy from the electrode to a discharge chamber brings about an additional discharge of the chamber. The additional discharge is operated catalyltically for a drying process and a hardening process.

PURPOSE: To dry ink speedily by arranging an energy radiation device outside a printing machine and optionally projecting a radiant energy to a surface of a printed product with the use of a specific transmitting means.
CONSTITUTION: An entire laser radiation device 13 is set in a suitable housing outside a printing machine 1. End parts of fiber-optic cables 16 terminate immediately above side faces of transfer cylinders 10-12 of individual printing units 3-6. An end part of a fiber-optic cable 17 is present at a paper discharge chain 18 transferring printed sheets to a paper discharge device 7. Both faces of the printed sheet are dried finally and an ink or lacquer layer applied by the printing unit 6 is also dried at an area of the chain 18. The fiber-optic cables 16 are divided and arranged into a line extending at light angles to a transfer direction of the sheet. Laser light beams at the end part of the fiber are generated almost at right angles to a front face of the sheet. A radiant energy is projected linearly to a printed product, not in spots, and therefore good dry effect and further increased dry speed are obtained.

PURPOSE:To enable to introduce and discharge an object to be irradiated while continuing irradiaton and to perform uniform irradiation, by a method wherein a drawer-type irradiating base is provided oppositely to a radiating source of radiant energy, and a turntable a part of which is exposed at the front side of the base is provided on the base. CONSTITUTION:When an electric discharge lamp 2 is stably turned on, the irradiating base 5 is drawn out, the object to be irradiated is placed on the turntable 7, the base 5 is inserted into a main body 1, and the object is irradiated with ultraviolet rays radiated from the lamp 2. When the part of the turntable 7 exposed at the front side of the base 5 is repeatedly rotated at appropriate timings, the turntable 7 is accompanyingly rotated, and the object is uniformly irradiated with ultraviolet rays from the lamp 2. After irradiation is sufficiently conducted, the base 5 is drawn out, whereby the object can be taken out without any leakage of light while maintaining the lamp 2 ON, and hands are never exposed to ultraviolet rays, so that safety is secured. |

PURPOSE:To enable to turn on a lamp stably and to discharge gases favorably, by a method wherein light-irradiating apparatuses each of which consists of a reflector provided at an opening of a lower surface to be forcibly cooled by a fluid and an ultraviolet lamp placed oppositely to the reflector are placed so as to form gas passages communicating to an exhaust port. CONSTITUTION:Three light-irradiating apparatus 4 each of which consists of the reflector 5 provided with a passage 9 for a cooling fluid and a metal halide lamp 6 placed oppositely to the reflector 5 are apacedly placed in a main body 1 of the device so as to form the gas passage 12 communicating to the exhaust port 3. The main body 1 has a lower surface provided with the opening 2 faced to a conveyor 13 for printed matter or the like 14, and is provided with an exhaust fan at an upper surface. By operating the exhaust fan, the outside air is introduced into the main body 1 through the opening 2, passed through the passage 12 and is discharged through the exhaust port 3. |
