182 Method for evaluating pathologies in a rabbit ear artery EP05254479.8 2005-07-19 EP1618914A1 2006-01-25 Falotico, Robert; Parry, Tom Jay; Zhao, Jonathon Z.

A methodology for percutaneously accessing the central ear artery of a rabbit may be utilized for inducing, treating and evaluating injuries therein to determine the pathology of the injuries and the safety and efficacy of the treatment. The central ear artery of a rabbit is similar to morphology to human coronary arteries. Accordingly, the study of the central ear artery of a rabbit will provide valuable information in the biology and identification of new treatments for restenosis, atherosclerosis and vulnerable plaque.

A method for evaluating pathologies in a rabbit central ear artery is described which comprises: endovascularly creating an injury in at least one location within the central ear artery of a rabbit; and evaluating the pathologies associated with the injury.

An inner race member (30) seats within the outer race (10) and a first bearing member (21) is juxtaposed therebetween. The first bearing member (21) has its normal axis closely coincident with a center of rotation that is normal to an axis of most frequent movement of the joint. The bearing component (21) is installed in an alignement that supports loads on a primary axis. A second bearing member (22) may be provided between the inner (30) and outer race (10) members which constrains forces generated during use of the joint and centers forces onto the first bearing member (21).
