PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating valve capable of accurately measuring the wear amount of a seal of a valve element which is a very small amount by not only simply linking a gauge pin to the reciprocating movement of a stem but also accurately reflecting the reciprocating movement of the stem on the gauge pin while having simple structure. SOLUTION: The reciprocating valve is equipped with the stem 2 connected to a piston 1, the valve element 3 mounted on a tip end of the stem 2, a guide hole 5 formed to penetrate a yoke 41 connected to a valve body 4 from a yoke inner part to a yoke outer part, and the gauge pin 6 that reciprocates by being linked to the reciprocating motion of the stem 2. The gauge pin 6 is inserted in the guide hole 5 in a state of its tip end face 60 projected to the yoke outer part to allow a change of the projection amount to be checked from the guide hole 5. The support member is mounted to a tap body, and in the normal operation of the tap, the support member is held in a fixed position with respect to the tap body. The skirt has an internal screw thread engaged with an externally threaded portion of the support member. In the closed state of the tap, the skirt masks a signaling portion of the support member. When the driving wheel is rotated to open the tap, the skirt is displaced in a direction to uncover the signaling portion to indicate the open state of the tap.
