PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fuel from being excessively injected even with the generator rotated at a high speed without complicating its structure, in a mixture generator equipped with a diaphragm type fuel pump and a fuel injection valve.
SOLUTION: A fuel injection valve 30 to supply fuel in a fuel passage part 25 to a body part 12 equipped with a diaphragm type fuel pump 14 in a designated timing, and a manual fuel pump 40 to fill fuel in the fuel passage part when the diaphragm type fuel pump is not driven are provided. The fuel passage part is brought into communication with the inlet 42 of the manual fuel pump, a pressure adjusting valve 44 working as an intake valve when operating the manual fuel pump and working as a by-pass valve to by-pass fuel in the fuel passage part to the manual pump chamber 40A of the manual fuel pump when a fuel pressure in the fuel passage part is not less than a designated pressure are disposed at the inlet.

In extruding rods and sections, or in coating wires and cables by extrusion, the rods, sections and coatings consisting of thermoplastic material and being of such substantial thickness as normally to lead, on cooling after extrusion, to the presence of voids therein, the thermoplastic material is extruded in the heated state through a die and then subjected to strong cooling by means of compressed air, water under pressure or other fluid medium under pressure, the pressure of the medium being sufficient to prevent the permanent formation of voids. The cooling-pressure medium may be passed through a tube through which the rod or coated wire is drawn. The tube may be attached at one end directly to the die, the rod or coated wire being drawn through a gland at the other end of the tube. The air, water, &c. may escape from the tube through the gland or through a pressure controlling valve. Specification 471,590, [Group IV], is referred to. |

An internal combustion engine having a precombustion chamber connected to the cylinder by a venturi passage is supplied fuel through an opening in the venturi passage. Fuel is supplied to the precombustion chamber in an initial increment on the compression stroke so that the air and fuel in the precombustion chamber can be ignited at the end of the compression stroke and a stream of high pressure, hot gases returning through the venturi aspirate a second increment of fuel for completing combustion of the air in the cylinder. A bypass conduit from the precombustion chamber conveys gas under pressure to the fuel near the opening in the venturi to assist in ejecting said second increment of fuel into the hot gases in the venturi. A small cylinder and piston, or a diaphragm in the bypass conduit transmit pressure to the fuel without letting hot gases contact the fuel.In a modification employing a valved opening, a fuel-air mixture is introduced into the precombustion chamber during the intake stroke of the piston. Upon combustion of this mixture in the precombustion chamber, an increment of liquid fuel is ejected at the venturi into the stream of hot, high pressure gases flowing from the precombustion chamber into the cylinder to provide fuel for the air in the cylinder. |

A hybrid propulsion system, particularly for a vehicle, having a free piston type engine-pump unit connected to a working fluid circuit for controlling pressurization of a working fluid, which fluid in turn drives a hydraulic motor interconnected to the vehicle wheels. The motor-pump unit includes a free piston assembly having a pair of fixedly connected power pistons, each of which has a pump piston fixed thereto. The fluid system includes high and low pressure accumulators in communication with pumping chambers associated with the pump pistons. The power pistons are used for driving the pump pistons to pressurize the working fluid when self-sustained operation of the engine-pump unit is desired. However, the flow of working fluid to the pumping chambers can be reversed during startup of the engine so that the high pressure fluid is used for driving the free piston assembly until same is reciprocated at a rate rapidly enough to permit self-sustained reciprocation thereof. |

A carburetor start pump circuit, for starting an engine, has an auxiliary fuel pump mounted on a relatively standard carburetor body, a pulse passageway extending through the carburetor body to the auxiliary fuel pump, and a fuel circuit having an intake side extending from a metering chamber in the carburetor body to the auxiliary pump where it is interconnected to a discharge side extending from the auxiliary pump to a throttle bore in the air intake of the carburetor body. To facilitate control of fuel flow, the fuel circuit includes inlet and discharge check valves and a metering jet. |
