The apparatus includes a large-capacity main blower (47) for drawing in air from the face of coal being mined. The dirty air is routed through a secondary stage of centrifugal filters (65) which is energized by a second blower (72) or pressure unit, the output of which is then routed through a cloth filter stage (76). Only clean air is discharged into the atmosphere. An air balancing device (95) maintains proper operating pressures in the secondary filter stage for more efficient processing of the dirty air discharge. An adjustable balancing gate (35) maintains proper operating pressure at the collection outlets for the main and secondary filter stages. A device (105) is also included for incorporating rock dust into the main clean air discharge using the power available at the main blower to reduce any hazard.

A dust collection and ventilation apparatus for tunnel construction comprises an air supply unit(100), an air supply tube(120), a filter device(200), backflow vanes, an exhaust part, and a blow control unit(110). The air supply unit is installed at an entrance of a tunnel(10) to feed outside air into the tunnel. The air supply tube is connected with the air supply unit at one end and extends to a polluted area(11) of the tunnel. Located in the polluted area of the tunnel, the filter device includes a filter(210), an exhaust unit(230), and an exhaust tube(240). The filter is installed at the filter device. The exhaust unit has exhaust capacity greater than blow capacity of the air supply unit. The exhaust tube is installed at one end of the exhaust unit, and an air curtain is formed around the exhaust tube. The exhaust device prevents polluted from exhausting out of the tunnel, collects and filters dust, and circulates the filtered air in the tunnel. The backflow vanes are installed at the end of the exhaust tube or the exhaust unit to accelerate backflow of the filtered air inside the tunnel. The exhaust part is installed at the air supply unit or the air supply tube to exhaust some of the supplied air to the outside. The blow control unit is installed at the air supply unit or the air supply tube to control blow capacity or wind pressure of the air supplied into the tunnel.

The present invention provides an apparatus to purify air in a tunnel comprising: a dehumidifier installed inside a tunnel to remove moisture in the air inside a tunnel; a dust collector connected to the dehumidifier to remove fine dust in the air flowed from the dehumidifier; a catalytic reactor connected to the dust collector to remove carbon monoxide in the air flowed from the dust collector by a catalytic reaction; a plasma reactor connected to the catalytic reactor to remove a volatile organic compound in the air flowed from the catalytic reactor through a corona discharge; and an air blower to generate the suction force to sequentially transfer air to the dust collector, the catalytic reactor, and the plasma reactor after the air inside the tunnel is flowed through the dehumidifier. In the apparatus to purify air in a tunnel, air whose moisture and fine dust are removed through the dehumidifier, and the dust collector passes through the catalytic reactor and the plasma reactor. Therefore, air discharged to the outside of the tunnel is at a state where carbon monoxide is removed in accordance to the catalytic reaction of the catalytic reactor, and a volatile organic compound is decomposed and removed in accordance to the corona discharge of the plasma reactor.
