47 UNDERWATER STUFFING BOX AND A METHOD FOR RUNNING A DRILL STRING THROUGH THE STUFFING BOX EP11737330.8 2011-01-24 EP2529077A1 2012-12-05 ERIKSEN, Egil
The invention relates to a stuffing box (1 ) consists of an outer housing (2), an upper set (3) and a lower set (4) of support plates for a sleeve-shaped, flexible sealing element (5) enclosed by a liquid filled, pressurised annulus (26). The sets of support plates in the top (22) and bottom of the housing (24) respectively have an opening in the middle, exceeding the diameter of the tool joint (B"). The inner sealing element (5) seals radially against the drill string (B) and axially against the support plates with pressure assistance from the annulus (26) between the sealing element and the middle stuffing box housing. When the sealing element (5) is rotated by the drill string (B) the ends of the sealing element (5) abut the upper and lower support plate set (3, 4) respectively and seals against the pressure from the well and outside seawater pressure. Each of the upper and lower support plate sets (3, 4) comprise two halves (31, 33; 41, 43 respectively) connected to an actuator each (32, 34; 42, 44 respectively) arranged for radial displacement of the halves (31, 33; 41, 43). Each of the support plate halves (31, 33; 41, 43) comprise a cut-out arranged to be able to encircle the inside and the ends of the sealing element (5) comprise cast-in, ceramic elements.
48 AN APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTAINING FLUID OR GAS RELEASED FROM A PIPE EP10809410.3 2010-08-20 EP2483515A1 2012-08-08 Holtby, Quinn A.J.
An apparatus and method is provided for containing fluid or gas that is released when two adjoining sections of pipe are disconnected. The apparatus can comprise two or more arcuate sections hinged together to form a generally cylindrical or tubular containment chute that can be releasably enclosed around a pipe joint. Latching mechanisms can hold the apparatus around the pipe joint. The apparatus can have one or more sealing members at each end of the containment chute that engage the pipe above and below the pipe joint so that the pipe joint is completely enclosed and sealed off. A spout located on the sidewall of the apparatus allows fluid or gas that is released when the pipe joint is broken to flow from the apparatus through the spout into a hose connected to the spout, whereby the hose can divert the fluid or gas to a receptacle or container.

One or more cam lock bores (130) adapted to house one or more at least partially rotatable cam locks (200), are offset from the pin cam bores (120) such that each cam pin bore partially intersects a corresponding cam lock bore (130) to form an aperture through which the cam lock (200) engages the cam pin (300). One or more cam pins (300) are connected to the stripper rubber; and one or more at least partially rotatable cam locks (200) housed in the cam lock bores (130) of the adapter (100) optionally engage or disengage the pin cams (300) to respectively connect or disconnect the stripper rubber to or from the equipment.
50 ARRANGEMENT FOR THE REMOVAL OF CUTTINGS AND GAS ARISING FROM DRILLING OPERATIONS EP99924064.1 1999-05-25 EP1084325B1 2002-10-23 EDVARDSEN, Per, Espen
There is described an arrangement for the removal of bore cuttings, sludge and gases from the mouth of the bore hole where is arranged between the drill stem and the sleeve pipe an end piece which ensures a fluid-tight seal, and where in the wall portion of the sleeve pipe there is an opening which is connected to a conduit system so that the bore cuttings are fed forcibly via the opening in the sleeve pipe and into the conduit system for relocating of the matter to a position at a distance from the mouth of the bore hole, as a result of the pressure which is established in the annular space between drill stem and sleeve pipe on the supply of bore sludge.
51 Wiper device for stripping fluid from well pipe EP83305869.6 1983-09-29 EP0107391A2 1984-05-02 Brown, William H.

A wiper device is provided comprising a container (1) having a central opening (4) through which the well string may pass. A pair of opposed wiper pads (9) disposed in a horizontal attitude are mounted in spaced vertical relationship within the container (1) for longitudinal movement toward each other, to engage the vertical string. A double-acting pneumatic cylinder (25) actuates each pad. Each cylinder (25) is mounted in the plane of the pad (9), said cylinder being connected at its front end with the rear portion of the wiper pad and being pivotally connected at its rear end with a support member. The front end of the cylinder (25) is thus adapted to rotate in a horizontal plane about its pivot connection, to accommodate transverse movement of the attached wiper pad (9). The container side walls (3) are spaced from the wiper pad edges to permit such transverse movement to take place. Arrays of anti-friction rollers (8) support each of the pads. The spacing of the walls (3), pivoting capability of the cylinder (25) in a horizontal plane, and provision of the anti-friction means (8) combine to permit transverse movement of the wiper pads (9). The head ends of the cylinders (25) are interconnected by a line to enable air, displaced from one cylinder, to move to the other, to permit of longitudinal movement of the pads. The head ends of the cylinders (25) are also connected with a pulsation tank, so that if both cylinders are simultaneously contracted by passage of an enlargement through the pads (9), there is little change in wiping pressure. Thus the pads (9) can free-float with the well string, while maintaining a substantially constant wiping pressure.

An apparatus and method is provided for containing fluid or gas that is released when two adjoining sections of pipe are disconnected.

The sealing assembly further has a bearing attachment for attaching the plurality of modular sealing elements to a rotating portion of the bearing assembly such that the sealing elements extend downward in series from the bearing assembly and rotate with the rotating tubing string.
54 TREATMENT OF NEONATAL HYPOXIA INCLUDING IMPAIRMENTS OR EFFECTS THEREOF EP15857481.4 2015-11-06 EP3215190A1 2017-09-13 WATZLAWIK, Jens, O.; WARRINGTON, Arthur, E.; RODRIGUEZ, Moses; CAREY, William, A.
A stuffing box loosening device for loosening a locking collar securing a stuffing box to a well head. The device includes a rotatable clamping tool having a clamp securable to an external surface of the locking collar. The clamp prevents relative rotational movement between itself and the locking collar. A force-receiving body extends away from the clamp. A main frame has a mounting portion securable to the well head, and the mounting portion prevents relative rotational movement between the main frame and the well head. A force-supporting body is attached to the mounting portion. An actuator is mounted to the force-supporting body and in operation extends to displace a second end to engage the force-receiving body of the clamping tool and apply a force thereto. The force rotates the clamp to loosen the locking collar.
