PURPOSE: To attain smooth exchange by shaping one side face of a shank section supported to the interior wall of a ground drill, extending from the cutting surface of a segment relatively slidably to the ground drill in response to the lifting and lowering of the ground drill. CONSTITUTION: A fixed carrying tool and an insert 24 or the like are worked together, and a plurality of bit segments 22 are held to a drive assembly 18 at the front end of the ground drill and used as cutting means. The side faces 74 of shanks 68 extended from the crowns 70 of bits are faced and supported to the inner wall surface of the assembly 18 at that time. The side faces 74 are formed of surfaces 76, 77, 78, 80, 82, 84, 86, 88 or the like composed of fixed tapered surfaces and surfaces parallel with an axis. These surfaces relatively slide to the ground drill in response to lifting or lowering from the bottom section of an excavated pit of the ground drill when the surfaces are positioned at the cutting places. <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an increased efficiency of work and the maintenance of a hole wall by using a submerged type boring machine in the sea bottom and adapting a wire line system. <P>SOLUTION: This wire line core sampling device uses a boring rod held by the chuck of the boring machine, a wire line core barrel having a bit for annularly excavating the ground at the tip, an overshot assembly detachably incorporated therein, and an overshot assembly 5 having the function of being engaged with the upper end part of the assembly. PURPOSE: To attain smooth seating by installing a circumferential seating means to the interior wall of a tubular member and mounting a surface formed so that a cutting means is slid to the tubular member in response to the lifting and lowering of the drill at the position of cutting to the seating means. CONSTITUTION: Bit segments 22 are installed to a specified carrying tool and lifted and lowered in the drill, and the lowering of the bits 22 is prevented when the steps 90 of each bit 22 are engaged with a latch dog 32 mounted on the tubular drive sub-assembly 18. An insert 24 extends the bits 22 to the outside in the radial direction, and positions each bit 22 in each recess 58. The insert 24 lowers the bits 22 up to the position of mounting held among the bits and the assembly 18, and locks the bits 22 in the periphery of the assembly 18. When bit crowns 70 are brought into contact with the bottom sections of the bits in the case of cutting, the bits 22 are retracted, and the surfaces 86, 112, 114 of the bits 22 are supported by the fixed surface of the assembly 18.
