101 | Method and a machine of obtaining samples from the ground to determine its composition | US142409 | 1980-04-21 | US4332301A | 1982-06-01 | Per-Olof Jonell |
A method and a machine for obtaining of samples from the ground to determine the presence of certain substances in the ground. A drilling machine drives a drill down into the section of the ground to be prospected and cooling air is forced through the drill bit and down into the drill hole during the drilling. At least a part of the dust-laden air which escapes from the drill hole during the drilling is induced to pass through a filter web which is advanced continuously at a rate proportional to the drilling rate. When dust particles deposited on the web are analyzed, it becomes possible to determine what kind of minerals and other substances are contained in the prospected section of the ground and from which level they originate.

A control system for remote control prevents automatically the filter unit from being vibrated during suction of dust, said control system being connected to the flush air conduit of the rock drill for making the operation of the dust collecting device responsive to the position of the flush air throttle valve. The control system also comprises a timing unit for determining of the time interval during which the filter unit is exposed to vibrations.

The invention relates to a device for dry drilling using drilling debris flushing and dust extraction, which is suitable for use in a drilling rig having one or especially also a plurality of drilling trucks, wherein each drilling truck having a dust extraction means and drilling debris collector (2') is assigned a vacuum generator (3) that is stable with regard to volume flow, especially in the form of rotary piston blowers (10, 11, 12), and a surface filter (4, 4', 4") having compact elements (5, 6) and serving as a dust filter (2) and drilling debris collector (2'). The surface filter (4) is designed in such a manner that said filter reliably separates both the drilling debris and the dust.

119 | METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR REDUCING DUST-RELATED PROBLEMS IN ROCK DRILLING | EP01903843.9 | 2001-02-01 | EP1264072B1 | 2005-11-30 | JUUJÄRVI, Kari; SORMUNEN, Tapani |
The invention relates to a method and arrangement for reducing dust-related problems in rock drilling. Air and liquid mist is supplied into a drilling hole to moisten the dust that comes off the drilling hole. The air and moistened dust exiting from the drilling hole are led to a dust separator, dust portions that collect into the dust separator being removed therefrom at suitable intervals. When dust is to be removed from the dust separator s filter, liquid is supplied to the portion below the filter in a mist-like form or as small droplets in connection with the dust removal to moisten the dust which then falls out of the lower end of the dust separator.
120 | Air drilling system and method for containing and separating cuttings | EP01100898.4 | 2001-01-16 | EP1120542A3 | 2001-09-05 | Finkelstein, Hubert S.; McLelland, Donald R. |
Cuttings are removed from air drilling fluid used in an air drilling system by delivering the cuttings and air drilling fluid into an air-tight enclosure (22), decreasing the flow rate of the air through the enclosure (22) to allow the cuttings to settle and separate from the airflow and be contained within the enclosure (22). The air, substantially devoid of the cuttings, is discharged. The enclosure (22) is positioned at an angle to facilitate the discharge of the contained cuttings. Preferably, the enclosure (22) is of a size which will allow it to be transported on public highways without special movement permits, and the exhilarating equipment used may be contained within the enclosure (22) during transportation. |
