PURPOSE: To attain smooth exchange by shaping one side face of a shank section supported to the interior wall of a ground drill, extending from the cutting surface of a segment relatively slidably to the ground drill in response to the lifting and lowering of the ground drill. CONSTITUTION: A fixed carrying tool and an insert 24 or the like are worked together, and a plurality of bit segments 22 are held to a drive assembly 18 at the front end of the ground drill and used as cutting means. The side faces 74 of shanks 68 extended from the crowns 70 of bits are faced and supported to the inner wall surface of the assembly 18 at that time. The side faces 74 are formed of surfaces 76, 77, 78, 80, 82, 84, 86, 88 or the like composed of fixed tapered surfaces and surfaces parallel with an axis. These surfaces relatively slide to the ground drill in response to lifting or lowering from the bottom section of an excavated pit of the ground drill when the surfaces are positioned at the cutting places. PURPOSE: To retreat a drilling tool from a hole by rotating the drilling tool in the opposite direction of the work rotating direction by arranging fastening shoulde parts on both sides of an area extending in the axial direction, and arranging a part expansively opening in the circumferential direction in an area corresponding to a projecting part in a cutout. CONSTITUTION: When inserting a drilling tool, a butting shoulder part 4a of a projecting lug 4 butts against an expansively opening part 7c opposed in the circumferential direction to be hookingly joined to an expansively opening part 8b of the other cutout 8. When rotatably driving a holder 1 in the clockwise direction, the projecting lug 4 transmits rotary motion to a cutter head 2 by the shoulder part 4a. In retreating the drilling device from a formed hole, when rotating the holder 1 in the anticlockwise direction, the lug 4 is hookingly joined to an expansively opening part 7b, and a butting shoulder part 5a of a projecting lug 5 is hookingly joined to an expansively opening part 8c to transmit rotation of the holder 1 to the head 2. The drilling device is rotated by manual operation, and a lock of the head 2 is released so that the device is pulled out of the hole.
