Diese Verbindung wird durch ein im weitesten Sinne zu verstehendes mechanisches Getriebe (28) bewirkt, über das die Klemmkraft aufgehoben und bei einigen Ausführungsformen auch erzeugt werden kann. Durch die kontrollierte Freigabe des Gewebes zu einstellbar wählbaren Zeitpunkten bzw. Arbeitsphasen der Webmaschine kann eine einfache Anpassung des Betriebs der Webmaschine (1) an unterschiedliche Gewebearten erreicht werden. Es kann mit geringerem Längszug des Gewebes gearbeitet werden. Die erfindungsgemäße Klemmeinrichtung eignet sich als Breithaltereinrichtung und lässt sich ohne großen manuellen Aufwand an verschiedene Gegebenheiten anpassen.
