For weaving pattern formation of a woven fabric with weft threads (3), warp threads (1) and effect threads (2), data sets (20) are produced according to a method in which data values are derived from weft sequence numbers (30) and from positions of interlacing points (P) of an effect thread (2) with the weft threads (3) in the pattern repeat (29). These data sets (20) are supplemented by further data values (31, 32, 33, 34) derived from the weaving pattern, in such a manner so that they form a pattern draft (28) for a weaving pattern with additional weft effects. In a weaving machine with devices for slidingly displacing effect threads (2) in the weft direction (12), the weaving pattern formation is derived from the data sets (20) of this pattern draft (28). |

In order to improve a loom for producing woven material (10) with an incorporated cover thread (12), it is proposed to provide a laying device for at least one cover thread (12) and also a warp-laying device (9) with warp-laying elements (14) for laying further warp threads (8). The warp-laying device (9) is designed such that it can make the further warp threads (8) penetrate from a starting position through the upper shed (5) to the lower shed (4), or through the lower shed to the upper shed, and therefore the weft-insertion device (7) crosses the further warp threads (8). The laying device has at least one cover-thread guide (13) which, in the starting position of the warp-laying device (9), can be displaced transversely to the warp threads (2) by way of a transverse-movement means. |

A weaving machine for manufacture of a fabric comprising a shed-forming device for forming a shed of warp threads, a selection device 22 comprising at least one rotatable element and a plurality of thread holders 31 for transmitting weft thread there through, the thread holders, being positioned in a row, whereby rotation of the rotatable element 25,26,27,28 causes said row to move for supply of weft thread to a desired position for manufacture of a fabric. The weaving machine of the present invention includes a weaving sley comprising a selection device 22 for supply of weft thread during manufacture of a fabric, a weft insertion mechanism operatively connected to the sley and movable relative to the selection device 22. A method of manufacture of a fabric having weft threads comprising, forming a shed from a plurality of warp threads, and supplying a weft thread to the shed by a selection device 22, said selection device comprising at least one rotatable element 25,26,27,28 and a plurality of thread holders 31 for transmitting weft thread there through, the thread holders being positioned in a row whereby rotation of the rotatable element causes the thread holders to move to a desired position for supply of weft thread to the shed. |

To insert an effect thread into a fabric being woven a warp is opened and an effect thread is inserted from one side into the open warp. It is then engaged from the open side of the warp and retained until such time as it can no longer be withdrawn from the warp due to its own tension. |

In a shuttleless loom, a yarn is inserted into an open warp shed to form a yarn loop which is anchored by a weft thread passing therethrough upon changing of the warp shed. The yarn is laid across a warp part inserted and anchored again by a following weft thread so that a floating yarn portion, anchored at the ends, is formed on the fabric. The yarn may be a fancy yarn having an ornamental effect, or the floating yarn portion may be used for attaching objects to the fabric.
