The piece of knitted tubing (10) also has a longitudinal axis with about 6 to about 9 stitches per inch, as typically measured along its longitudinal axis. Furthermore, the piece of knitted tubing (10) is inverted upon itself at least once along its longitudinal axis to form a plurality of concentric layers of tubing, which are then substantially flattened to form the batt (36). Each of the layers has a similar length and substantially overlaps the other layers. The batt (26) has a top surface (28), a bottom surface (30), and two open ends (22, 24).
