61 INTERNET PROTOCOL-BASED INTERSTITIAL ADVERTISING PCT/US2001/041500 2001-08-01 WO02048954A1 2002-06-20
The present invention delivers interstitial media content, such as advertisements during a user's navigation of an Internet protocol-based product, for example, a graphical user interface (26). The present invention may display advertisement content positioned within a web page (24) or may display a full screen advertisement before a new web page is presented. As an interstitial advertisement, the advertisement appears between web page requests such that when a user action requests a new page (10), the present invention can launch an ad before displaying the requested content (28). The ads are preferably non-interruptible, such that the user cannot fast-forward or skip the advertisement. A preferred method detects a web page address request and delivers advertising content in an Internet protocol format to the user independently of any code associated with the requested web address. The invention may also deliver ads only after a specified time delay has elapsed (18), thus regulating the frequency of advertisements independent of the user's movement through the Internet protocol-based product. In another preferred embodiment, the invention may also deliver ads only after a specified number of address changes have been detected. An additional preferred embodiment may also deliver an advertisement unrelated to whether a user makes a web page request.
62 INTERNET ADVERTISING AND INFORMATION DELIVERY SYSTEM PCT/US2001/016535 2001-05-22 WO01091044A1 2001-11-29
A novel Internet advertising and information delivery system (115) is disclosed comprising a novel cursor (130), wherein the cursor comprises two components: the traditional pointer component (135), and a small window component (140) adjacent to the pointer component of the cursor. Advertising and/or other information is displayed in the window component. The user's attention is constantly directed to this displayed advertisement and/or other information since it is part of the cursor. Another form of the novel Internet advertising and information delivery system takes advantage of the fact that most users access the Internet by telephone, using a local dial-up access number. Through the use of Caller ID, lease line codes or other fixed circuit identification, the ISP may identify the likely physical location of the user. Localized advertising and/or other information can then be closely targeted to a user. This targeted advertising and/or other information can be delivered to the user through conventional banner advertising, or more preferably, through the novel cursor described.
63 MONITORING AND TRACKING OF TROLLEYS AND OTHER TRANSPORTING UNITS EP13768500 2013-03-25 EP2832117A4 2015-05-06 LIEW CHOON LIAN; SIM HON WAI; YAP WEI LOONG; LAM CHEE YOONG
The present invention provides a system for monitoring and tracking transporting units. The system utilizes a monitoring device fitted to a transporting unit to collect data pertaining to the transporting unit and transferring the data along with a unique ID for monitoring device it to a reader device for a particular geographical area. Each reader device for a geographical area transfers data collected for a plurality of monitoring devices in its geographical area to a centralized server. The server stores the data in a database. The data server uses algorithms to calculate positions of transporting units, load managing for the reader devices, boundary crossing occurrences by a transporting unit, triggering alarm and/or locking wheels for the transporting unit when the device is out-of-range or stolen, and for searching the transporting unit. A user can view the data stored, data computed via. Algorithms and alerts are generated by the data server.

66 SYSTEM FOR SEARCHING AND SOLVING FOR INSURANCE PRODUCTS EP05796854.7 2005-09-08 EP1794697A2 2007-06-13 KENDALL, Errol, O.; BRASWELL, Elizabeth, A.; TURNER, Samuel, H.; MAURER, Keith, J.
A system for evaluating and scoring software products in which illustration engines relating to insurance products are run based on a common set of inputs. The illustration engines output a set of output metrics which are common to all illustration engines. The output metrics of products selected for comparison or evaluation are mathematically combined with each other and with the corresponding metrics of from all other illustration engines to determine a score which can be used to compare quickly and accurately the selected product against all other products in the database. The score may be determined by a weighted average in which the weights assigned to output metrics are adjustable at the user's discretion.
67 Method and apparatus for using one sensor to detect an edge of a printing medium and read a barcode thereon EP05111204.3 2005-11-24 EP1662420A1 2006-05-31 Chung, Jin-tae

An image printing method and apparatus which can detect the edge of a printing medium on which a barcode is written, whilst reading the barcode, using one sensor unit. The apparatus includes a sensor unit (310) sensing the barcode and generating a sensing signal. A first counting unit (320) counts the sensing signal to generate a first count value when the value of the sensing signal is first changed from a high value to a low value. A second counting unit (330) counts the sensing signal of the barcode concurrently with the first counting unit to generate a second count value which is initialized whenever the value of the sensing signal is changed. A detecting unit (340) detects the edge of the printing medium based on the first and second count values of the first counting unit and the second counting unit. A reading unit (350) reads the barcode based on the second count value of the second counting unit.

PURPOSE: To perform specific printing accurately on a specific position of a medium by a method wherein a plurality of magnetic marks for printing are provided along a running direction of the medium, and a detection signal of a magnetic sensor is utilized as printing start timing of a printing head and printing timing thereafter. CONSTITUTION: Magnetic marks 30 are provided at equal intervals on one side of a medium 20 along its running direction on a magnetic write surface of the medium 20. A magnetic sensor 21 detects a first magnetic mark 30 of the medium 20. When a CPU 22 receives a first detection signal, a counter 23 registers 1, and judges that the medium 20 is positioned at a specific printing start position at a point of time when a counter 23 reaches N. A printing control circuit 15 can perform specific printing accurately at the specific printing start position of the medium 20 based on a printing data by receiving a printing timing pulse. When the medium 20 is actually moved by a line pitch content by rotation of a platen roller 1, the (n+1) the magnetic mark is detected with the magnetic sensor 21, and printing on a second line is performed accurately at a specific line pitch. PURPOSE: To enable easy reissue of a form in a card certificating machine installed in a credit card dealing member store by providing a control circuit that takes out data from a memory circuit basing on reprinting instruction to control printing action. CONSTITUTION: A central unit 17 checks various data transmitted from a terminal equipment and sends print data including the advisability of dealing to a card certificating machine of terminal equipment. When data from the unit 17 is received, the terminal equipment clears preceding print data, stores received data in a print buffer 14 and prints the content in the form by a printer 15. At this time, when printing is incomplete and reissue of the form is necessary, an attendant depresses a reissue key. Then, the content of the buffer 14 is reprinted by the printer 15, and the form is reissued. COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
