PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elapsed time indicator which serves as a simple clock attached to a lid of a medicine case or the like and capable of checking elapsed time since the medicine is taken to prevent a failure or duplicate of taking the medicine and which can be reset only by opening/closing the lid for repetitive use. SOLUTION: A liquid and an insoluble powder slightly different in specific gravity each other are put by an appropriate amount into a thin container having a transparent upper surface and sealed, so that the elapsed time can be visually observed by speed with which the contents in the container transit from a cloudy to separate state. In addition, by putting the container on the lid of a medicine case or the like, the contents of the container get stirred every time the lid is opened or closed. Therefore, the indicator thus constituted can be automatically reset and can repeatedly indicate the elapsed time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT | ||||||

An hourglass timepiece (10) that is filled with a plurality of precious or semi-precious stones (16), such as small uncut diamonds, which are suspended in a silicone compound (17), such as silicone oil, to prevent scratching of the interior surface of the hourglass as the stones move by gravity from an upper compartment to a lower compartment of the hourglass. The hourglass has similar ends (22, 24), either of which can be supported by a decorative base (12) that reflects light into the stones (16) to highlight them and compensate for the reflective loss due to the silicone (17). |

In one embodiment there is a method for activating a function of a mobile application on a mobile device, using a movable device, the movable device including a processor, the processor including an inertial measurement unit and a wireless transmitter. The method comprising: at the movable device: detecting a movement signal at the inertial measurement unit indicating movement of the movable device; in response to detecting the movement signal from the wireless transmitter, determining whether the movement signal meets movement criteria; in response to determining that the movement signal meets movement criteria, transmitting a function activation signal to the mobile device to activate the function of the mobile application; and in response to determining that the movement signal does not meet movement criteria, refraining from transmitting a function activation signal to the mobile device to activate the function of the mobile application. |

A portable device that alerts a user when she should reapply her sunscreen product. The device is activated by a start/stop button and a count down timer counts down from a fixed amount of time to zero. Once the timer has counted down to zero, an indicator such as an alarm is activated to notify the user it is time for her to reapply her sunscreen product. Preferably the fixed amount of time can range from about one to about four hours and, most preferably, the fixed amount of time is about two hours. |
