Pantaloon garments ; braces. - Suspending means for the trouser-portions of overalls and similar garments such, for example, as are worn by workmen comprise one or more straps or tab ends secured to the rear of the garment and doubled back to form in situ a closed loop, another strap attached to the front and passing over the shoulders of the wearer, and a resilient connecting element. As shown in Fig. 1 a pair of straps 9, 10 are attached at the rear of the garments. Each strap comprises a short tab 15 with button or like fastening and a longer tab 16 with a buttonhole 20 or other fastening element. The buttonholes 20 of one strap are engaged with the buttons of the other strap and vice versa so that when these elements are engaged a closed loop is formed as shown in Fig. 8. The front straps 27 pass over the shoulder and are connected to the rear straps by means of a resilient fitting 25 shown in detail in Fig. 7. The resilient fitting comprises a pair of frames 24 of the shape shown and sliding on one another against the action of compression springs 23. The pair of rear straps may be replaced by a single strap with one part fastening on to the other. | ||||||

Fastening wearing-apparel.-A substitute for elastic webbing in suspenders, garters, and other supporting-means for wearing-apparel, is constructed as follows: -A loop 10 to which the suspender strap is secured is formed of wire bent as shown in Fig, 3. A cap 12 and sleeves 17 are threaded thereon, and over the sleeves a compressed spring 19. The spring is allowed to expand, whereupon it separates the sleeves 17, which prevent abrasion and noise in the operation of the device. The lower ends of the wire are then bent round, as in Fig. 4, to form the lower abutment for the spring 19, and the cap 12, which forms the upper abutment, is attached to a casing 24 of textile material carrying a loop 2, to which the suspender tab or the like is secured. The sides of the casing 24 may be closed by stitching. | ||||||
