68 MANUFACTURE OF GRAVURE PRINTING ROLLERS PCT/GB2004001880 2004-04-30 WO2004096569A3 2005-01-27 FRANKLIN CHARLES JEREMY; CUMMING LISTER CHARLES; WILLIAMS PETER JOHN
A gravure printing roller is manufactured by mounting a core (10), of steel, cardboard or plastics material for rotation, and moving a dispensing head (11) relatively to the core (10) to build up a body (14) of a polyurethane material on the core, and then machining the body (14) to accord with a required diameter. The mixing head combines at least two components of a syntactic or non-syntactic polyurethane immediately before application to the core, and fast reacting amines may be used to produce a gel-like intermediate to aid retention on the core, before complete curing of the polyurethane takes place in the body (14).

A cylindrical printing plate formed with high precision and used for printing on a metal can body, particularly an aluminum or aluminum alloy can body. The forming method of a printing plate forms the printing plate to be mounted on an outer periphery of a cylindrical plate cylinder, and includes a notch forming step of forming a positioning notch in a rectangular elastic material sheet in which a resin layer to be served as a plate section is formed on one surface. A cylindrical material forming step rolls the elastic material sheet in which the positioning notch is formed and overlaps both end portions of the elastic material sheet and joining them in a cylindrical shape. A plate section engraving step engraves a printing pattern on the plate section of the elastic material sheet formed into a cylinder shape.

80 Method for producing a pseudo-stochastic master surface, master surface, method for producing a cylinder cover, cylinder cover, machine processing printing material, method for producing printed products and method for microstamping printing products US12709627 2010-02-22 US08462391B2 2013-06-11 Ludo Kerz; Wolfram Kolbe; Martin Schmitt-Lewen
A method for producing a pseudo-stochastic master surface for producing a cover or jacket of a cylinder for contacting printing material, includes providing the master surface with a pseudo-stochastic distribution of microsurfaces. The master surface is produced on the basis of a digital master in a jacket preliminary stage and serves for a preferably galvanic production of a microstructured cover, in which structure elevations correlate with the microsurfaces. The pseudo-stochastic distribution helps to avoid disruptive discernible effects, for example the moiré effect and helps to construct the microstructuring in a targeted manner. A master surface, a method for producing a cylinder cover, a cylinder cover, a machine for processing printing material, a method for producing printed products and a method for microstamping printed products, are also provided.
